Drug charges follow weekend traffic stop, Jennings man arrested

Sheriff Harrell Reid’s Hamilton County Drug Task Force is an effective force to be reckoned with when it comes to detection, destruction and dismantling of the drug element throughout the area.



Calvin Heath Starling, 22, of 3525 NW 60th Ave., Jennings, was arrested by HCDTF officer Marvin Page over the weekend and charged with possession of a controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana and cocaine, possession of narcotic equipment, intent to sell, manufacture and driving with a suspended license. He was booked into the Hamilton County Jail September 18 and bonded-out the following day.



According to the arrest report, Starling was stopped by officer Page at US 129 and Hwy 41 in Jasper, and he (Starling) was subsequently arrested for driving with a suspended license.



An on-site inventory of Starling’s vehicle reveled white powder – tested positive as cocaine – $721 in cash, marijuana, plastic bags – commonly used for packaging and sale of controlled substances – and an abundance of drug processing equipment.



The arrest report indicates that Starling admitted that his main source of income came from the sale of controlled substances, and which Starling states in the report, he used to support his current household and to pay child support.
