Deputy Alan Ellis, a 13-year-officer with Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) was recently promoted to sergeant and presented his stripes by Sheriff Carson McCall.

McCall said Sgt. Ellis has a solid background in law enforcement.

Ellis began his career as a certified correctional officer at the county jail but changed shortly to the position of a deputy.

For the past ten years Ellis has worked with the Lafayette School District as the Resource Officer as well as continuing his duties as an officer in the county.

Ellis said he has seen an increase in calls from residents of the county in the last few years. “When I started with the department there were days that we wouldn’t receive a single call, it’s different now,” he said.

Ellis said the increase in calls is challenging and he enjoys the work.

The sergeant and his wife Lynette live in the county with their two sons Zachary and Cameron.
