As of April 2, Suwannee Bulldog baseball is rated number two in the state in Class 4-A. This is an incredible honor for Suwannee. The only problem is, the Suwannee High baseball team plays in Class 3-A. The poll is a Florida Sports Writers Association poll.
This new rating moved the Dogs from number three to number two behind number-one rated Jacksonville Bishop Kenny. Suwannee received 127 votes behind BK with 150. BK is 13-1 and Suwannee is 14-0.
In Suwannee’s real Class, 3-A, the leader in the state at this time is Plantation America Heritage at 14-1. Number two in Class 3-A is Fort Myers Bishop Verot with a record of 14-2. Closer to home, Madison County is rated number eight with a record of 11-4 and Wakulla is rated number seven with a record of 10-5.
The poll is confusing for everyone because Suwannee will never play the teams they are currently rated with. The Dogs will only play teams in Class 3-A in the playoffs and the district championship.
None-the-less, this is still a great honor and one which the Bulldog baseball team deserves. This could be the year for Suwannee. The Dogs are playing well and according to the Gainesville Sun, Suwannee has a good chance of ending up in the state championships in Tampa.
Go Dogs!
