Lady Dog volleyball wins match with Lafayette three games to two

The Lady Dogs traveled to Lafayette County for a match with local rivals the Lady Hornets. Suwannee, working on finding their feet after losing several starters from last year, struggled. The Lady Dogs lost the first game 22-25, won the second 25-23, won the third 25-23, lost the fourth 28-25 and won the third 15-6.
Jasmine Jefferson, a rising star for Suwannee, had 11 kills, 16 service points, four of them aces, three assists and three blocked shots.
Setter Cortney Benson had a great match coming up with 17 service points, eight of them aces and 12 assists.
Another killer at the net was Ashley Rose with seven kills. Rose also scored three service points, one of them an ace, and blocked three shots.
Newcomer to Suwannee volleyball Rebecca Roberts had 12 service points, five of them aces, one kill and one assist.
Stephanee Skipper had four kills, six service points, three of them aces, two assists and one blocked shot.
Danielle Smith had eight service points, six of them aces, four assists and one block.
Shalisa Cuyler had one kill and four service points, two of them aces.
The JV Lady Dogs lost their two games 16-25 and 12-25.
Look for more Suwannee volleyball at home against Santa Fe Tuesday, Sept. 13. Game time is 5 p.m. for JV and 6 p.m. for the varsity. Come out and support the team. Go Lady Dogs!
