Lady Dogs fall to Santa Fe in three

Hampered by the loss of a key player, Suwannee faltered and lost to Santa Fe in three straight games Tuesday, Sept. 13. Cortney Benson, Suwannee’s setter and a great server, was out. Alex Camunas, another key net-player, was just back off an ankle sprain and playing at half her usual ability. The Lady Dogs had several players in as replacements who have seen very little varsity playing time. But these replacements made a good showing and helped Suwannee score the points they did against a very tough Santa Fe squad.

The Lady Dogs lost the first game 8-25, the second game 7-25 and the third game 14-25.

Shalisa Cuyler had a good game for Suwannee with two kills, two service points, one of them an ace and three assists.

Alex Camunas had three service points, one kill and one assist.

Jasmine Jefferson had one service point, an ace.

Rebecca Roberts had two service points, one of them an ace and one kill.

Stephanee Skipper had three kills.

Lacy Smith had one assist.

The JV also lost 1-25 and 16-25.

Look for Suwannee volleyball at home again against Columbia County Wednesday, Sept. 28. Game time is 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow. Columbia is always a spirited competition. Come out and support Suwannee volleyball. Go Lady Dogs!
