North Florida Community College hosted area high school “Brain Bowl” teams Nov. 20 challenging some of the area’s brightest students in fierce academic competition. Branford and Suwannee High Schools were among twelve teams from eight high schools competing in a two division round-robin tournament. Winners in the 2003 tournament were first – Wakulla High School; second – Taylor High School; and third to Aucilla Christian Academy. Other teams were Madison, Jefferson, and Hamilton county high schools.

Branford High School students competing were: Stacy Cregg, Lori Desmartin, Anthony Padgett, Andrew Pellicer and Curtis Kinsey. Annette Kinsey is the Coach.

NFCC history instructor Dr. David Proctor coordinated the event. “We had a great tournament,” he said. “These high school students are amazing – the kinds of minds we want on future NFCC brain bowl teams.”
