Local youths win honors at Pepsi Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run competition

On Sunday, May 16, local athletes participated in the Pepsi Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run competition at the First Federal Sportsplex. The competition was hosted by the Suwannee Parks and Recreation Department.
Pitch, Hit and Run is a baseball skills competition that allows youngsters to showcase their talents in pitching, hitting and running with scores determined by each individuals scores in each skill event.
In the seven to eight year old division Cole Menhennett from Live Oak was the overall winner with 455 points.
The Pitch Champion in the 7-8 year old division was Kyle Reed of Live Oak with 225 points. The Hit Champion was Johnny LeDew of Live Oak with 206 and the Run Champion was Cole Menhennett with 220 points.
In the 9-10 year old division the Over-All Champion was Jon-Keith Godwin of live Oak with 660 points.
The Pitch Champion in the 9-10 age group was Darrin Hunt of Ft. White with 225 points. The Hit Champion was Zach Landis of Live Oak with 246 points. The run Champion was Jon-Keith Godwin with 322 points.
In the 11-12 age group the Over-All winner was Frank Snead, Jr. of Live Oak. This makes the third competition Snead has won this year. Snead placed first in his division in the Hoop Shoot and first in the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick. Snead took the Over-All Champion with an amazing 979 points
Snead and Ryne Turner tied for the Pitch Champion with 300 points each. Snead took the Hit Champion with 330 points and the Run Championship with 349 points.
In the 13-14 age group the Over-All Champion was Reilly Turner of Live Oak with 630 points. Turner aced the competition winning the Pitch Championship with 150 points, the Hit Championship with 260 points and the Run Championship with 220 points.
The winners will now compete in the sectional competition which will be held May 30 in Hawthorne. The Sectional All-Around Champions will be eligible to qualify for the Team Championships to be held at Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Devil Rays.
