Lucille Buckels Leslie, 97, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County, Arkansas. She was born June 19, 1907 in Jasper, to Robert C. Buckels Sr. and Luanna Crews Buckels. She was married to Thomas Dale Leslie, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Leslie moved to Arkansas in 1997 from Florida where she taught high school math and history for approximately 50 years. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Florida, and a Master’s Degree in Library Science. Mrs. Leslie wrote poetry, and traveled to Hawaii, Europe, the Orient and extensively in the United States. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son Boyce Howell and his wife Gloria, Rogers, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Dale (Debbie) Howell of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Keith (Sherry) Howell of Phoenix, Arizona, and Evelyn Lynn (Steven) Rich of Rogers, Arkansas, and five great-grandsons.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., November 7, at First United Methodist Church in Jasper. Bishop Charlene Kammerer of the Virginia Conference will conduct the service.

. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Florida Sheriff’s Boy’s Ranch or Shriner’s Cripple Children’s Hospital.
