Imogene G. “Jean” Downing

Imogene G. “Jean” Downing, 70, of Live Oak, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2004, in Jacksonville. The Mt. Pleasant, Tenn. native moved to Live Oak from Bartow in 1975, worked at Suburban Gas Company for 20 years and was a member of Luraville Baptist Church, Luraville.



Survivors include: two daughters, Betty Jean Kelly, Lakeland and Phyllis Ledford, Newnan, Ga.; one son, James Ivey Downing, Interlachen; six sisters, Belle Roberts, Lakeland, Susie Smith Newnan, Ga., Alexiene Wright, Nashville, Tenn., Doris Collier, Fayetteville, Ga., Jackie Mixon, Jasper, Ga. and Kathleen Carlson, Tampa; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.



In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Luraville Baptist Church, 20309 180th Street, Live Oak, FL 32060.



Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 7, at Daniels Memorial Chapel, Live Oak, with the Rev. Shawn Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Day Cemetery, Day.

Steven R. Burke



Steven R. Burke, 50, of Live Oak, passed away Monday, July 5, 2004, in Shands Hospital, Gainesville. He was a native of West Palm Beach. Burke had made Live Oak his home for the past 20 years moving from West Palm Beach. He was of the Baptist faith and was an over-the-road truck driver for many years, some knew him as his CB handle “Roadrunner.” Burke was the son of the late Robert Fredrick Burke.



Survivors include: his wife of six years, Pamela E. Burke of Live Oak; his mother, Ruth Burke of Live Oak; one son, Thomas Burke of Live Oak; and one brother, James Burke of Live Oak.



Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9, at 2 p.m., in Suwannee Funeral Home, 932 North Ohio Ave., Live Oak, with Pastor Lee Ann Charlton officiating. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery.



The family will receive friends from noon until service time on Friday, July 9.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society, 9143 Phillips Hwy., Suite 130, Jacksonville, FL 32256.



Myra Kellogg Andrews Smith



Myra Kellogg Andrews Smith, 97, of Dowling Park, passes away, Saturday, July 3, 2004, in the Good Samaritan Center, Dowling Park. The Plainfield, Wis. native was a life long resident of Live Oak. She was a homemaker, a member of the American Legion Post No. 107, a member of World War I Veterans Auxiliary No. 1163, Lake City and a member of Westwood Baptist Church, Live Oak.



Survivors include: two sons, Benjamin and Jean Andrews and Kenneth K. and Lavon Andrews both of Live Oak; four daughters, Aline Norman, Okeechobee, Annie and J.C. Brown, Jasper, Martha Elizabeth Brown, Wildwood and Emily Joyce and Loyd Roberts, Quincy; two brothers, Ben Kellogg, Glen St. Mary and Frederick Kellogg, Ft. Myers; 30 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Andrews Sr., four sons, Jack Andrews, Charles Andrews, Tom Andrews Jr., and Virgil Andrews.



Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 6, at Westwood Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Deas officiating. Interment followed in the Marybelle Baptist Church Cemetery, Live Oak.

Charles F. Bryan Sr.



Charles F. Bryan Sr., 79, a resident of Perry, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2004. He was the son of the late John M. Bryan and the late Bea (Johnson) Bryan. A native of Live Oak, he had grown up in Perry, and had moved back to Perry from Clearwater in 1974. Bryan was a member of New Home Baptist Church and a member of the Masons. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was employed with American Baker for 20 years, became a truck driver and later had his own business “Hwy Oil,” while living in Clearwater. After moving back to Perry, he worked with the Taylor County Maintenance Department until his retirement. A daughter Sandra Bryan Newman preceded him in death.



Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Muriel E. Bryan of Perry; a son, Charles E. Bryan Jr. of Perry; a daughter, Susan Bryan of Augusta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends.



Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 5, at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery in Perry.
