Stephen Hughel “Hugh” Dill
Stephen Hughel “Hugh” Dill, 69, of McAlpin, Fla. passed away Thursday, March 20, 2003 in the Lake City Medical Center after a long illness. The Sulligent, Ala. native was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Dill worked at Reece’s BP Station in Live Oak, Fla. for 20 years, and a was member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in McAlpin, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Jeanette Dill.
Survivors include: two daughters, Linda (Joe) Baxley of Ocala, Fla. and Sandy (Michael) Burnett of Jasper, Fla.; two sons, John (Shelly) Dill of Live Oak, Fla. and James (Amy) Dill of San Antonio, Texas; four sisters, Marie Coshatt, Louise Graham and Lavelle Willingham, all of Pell City, Ala. and Martha Powell of Alexandria, Ala.; two brothers, Bill Dill of Odenville, Ala. and Roland Dill of Ragland, Ala. and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted March 24, 2003 in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Richardson and the Rev. Tommy Cannon officiating.
Daniels Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Carolyn Bowers
Carolyn Bowers, 62, of Live Oak, Fla. passed away March 23, 2003 in Suwannee Health Care Center, Live Oak, Fla. after a long illness. The Suwannee County native was an in-home certified nurses aide for five years and a member of Clayland Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Jennifer Warner of Live Oak, Fla. and Carol Johnson of Lake City, Fla.; one son, Terry Allen Johns of Live Oak, Fla.; four grandchildren, Dawn Rogers, Michael G. Johns Jr., Michaela Johns and Ryan E. Warner. She was preceded in death by one son, Michael G. Johns Sr.
Funeral services will be conducted today, March 26, 2003 at Daniels Memorial Chapel in Live Oak, Fla. with Dr. Jimmy Deas and John Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in Clayland Baptist Church cemetery.

Martha Wiglesworth Pepper
Martha Wiglesworth Pepper, 57, of Live Oak, Fla. passed away Thursday, March 20, 2003 in Shands at Jacksonville Hospital due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. The Valdosta, Ga. native lived in Live Oak, Fla. most of her life, was a captain with Wiser Security in Jacksonville, Fla., worked at Tempco Corp. in Lake City for 12 years and attended Melody Christian Center and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Live Oak, Fla.
Survivors include: her husband, Terry Pepper of Live Oak, Fla.; her mother, Shirley Wiglesworth of Hobe Sound, Fla.; three daughters, Tracy Fox of Madison, Fla., April Leonard of Greenville, Fla. and Candy Pike of Jasper, Fla.; one son, Gene Alston McClamma of Live Oak, Fla.; two sisters, Margaret Hall of Jacksonville, Fla. and Jeannie Craig of Hobe Sound, Fla.; one brother, Jesse Wiglesworth of Augusta, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Ashley McClamma, Angela and Amber Wilson, Toby Fox, Michael Pike, Annamarie McClamma and Lonnie Pike.
Memorial services will be conducted today, March 26, 2003 at 3 p.m. in Melody Christian Church in Live Oak, Fla.

Leslie Steven Gaal
Leslie Steven Gaal Sr., 45, of Live Oak, Fla. passed away Sunday, March 23, 2003 in Suwannee Health Care Center. The Cornwell, Ontario, Canada native was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam Conflict, worked in construction and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Melissa Gaal of Live Oak, Fla.; his father, Steve Gaal of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; one daughter, Rhionna Gaal of Live Oak, Fla.; five sons, Istvan Gaal of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Leslie Steven Gaal Jr. and Jonathan Gaal, both of Live Oak, Fla., Charlie Lee Gaal and Thomal Gaal, both of Tulsa, Okla. and Steve Gaal of Hungary; one grandchild.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Daniels Funeral Home Daniels Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Gladys Royals Shaner
Gladys Royals Shaner, 65, passed away March 12, 2003 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville after a long struggle with cancer. She was born an raised in Hamilton County and graduated from school in Hamilton County. She was retired from employment with the State of Florida and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Alex and Elizabeth Royals. Survivors include: her husband, Ken Shaner; sister, Alice Jones; nephew, Greg Jones; niece, Joni Scarborough; great niece, Nicole Jones; great nephews, Colby McCulley and Chase McCulley.
Visitation with family and friends was held at Town and Country Funeral Home in Jacksonville on Thursday, March 13th. Graveside services were held Friday, March 14th at Sassers Landing Cemetery with Dr. William Floyd officiating.
Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of local services.
Audrey Platt Kirby
Mrs. Audrey Platt Kirby, 87, Live Oak, died Monday, March 17, 2003 at her home following a long illness.
Mrs. Kirby was a native and lifelong resident of Live Oak and daughter of the late William Alonzo and Shelly Robinson Platt. She was a graduate and class Salutatorian of Suwannee High School, Class of 1933.
Mrs. Kirby and her late husband, M. J. Kirby, owned and operated Kirby Appliances in Live Oak. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Live Oak.
Survivors include: two sons, James Leslie (Sheryl) Kirby, Live Oak, and Michael Jay Kirby, Ocala; three daughters, Audrey Nadine (James) Fouraker, Wellborn, Linda Gail Jernigan, Live Oak, and Marilyn Elizabeth (Richard) Jones, Winter Haven. Nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter also survive.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, March 20, 2003 in the First Baptist Church of Live Oak, with Rev. Jim Robinett, church pastor, officiating, and Rev. Clarence Parker, assisting. Interment followed in Live Oak Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday, March 19 at the funeral home.

Mazie Idell Morgan
Mazie Idell Morgan, 89, Jasper, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at Trinity Community Hospital in Jasper, following an extended illness. The Liberty County, Fla. native was a homemaker and member of the Church of Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mallory Morgan; son, Durwood “Oogie” Morgan; two daughters, Corine Fouraker and Delvene Leightly and a grandson, David Mallory Morgan.
Survivors include one son, J. M. Morgan (Martha), Jasper; one daughter, Rheba Lee (Ronnie), Jasper; one brother, Henry Zorn, Monticello, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21 in the Chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home. Internment followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Darren Leighly; Allen Morgan; Keith Morgan; Robert Lee; P.J. Fouraker and Greg Chambers.
Honorary Pallbearers were: Pearsall Fouraker; Denwood Morgan; John Peach; Loyd Adams; Harrell Reid; Willie Morris; Ronnie Lee; Hilward Morgan and Waylon Bush.
Clergy were Rev. Ron Thompson and Rev. Wendell Hill.

Station in Live Oak for 20 years, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, McAlpin. Mr. Dill was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Jeanette Dill.

Mr. John Edwin Shiver
John Edwin Shiver, 83, Lake City, died Friday, March 21, 2003, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lake City. A native of Jennings, Mr. Shiver has lived in Lake City for the last 25 years, moving here from Boston, Ga. He was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the Burnham Christian Church in Jennings.
Mr. Shiver was an Army veteran of WWII and was the son of the late Isaac Shiver and the late Hattie Irene Padgett Shiver. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Shiver formally of White Springs; Nellie Tyre formally of Crestview and Christine Bogan formally of Pensacola.
Mr. Shiver is survived by four daughters, “Ginger” Shiver (Doug), of Woodstock, Canada; Diane Roberts (Ronald), of Thomasville, Ga.; Jeanette Boone (Charles), of Lake City; Nancy Castro, of Woodbridge, Va.; two brothers, Ike Shiver, Jr. (Melba), of Fernandina Beach and Kenneth Shiver (Lucille), of Palatka; five sisters, Marian Hudson (George), of Lake City; Amaryllis Burchette (Jim), of Tampa; Helen Brand (Edward), of Jacksonville; Ruth Lindauer (Maurice), of Valdosta, Ga. and Edith Johnson of Jennings; 14 grandchildren, Jenny Bruin, Ben Boone, Cliff Boone, Clint Boone, Kendra Boone, Mark Castro, Matthew Castro, Vanamey Fleming, Angela Johnstone, Michelle Laminack, Lori Philbin, Chris Roberts, Krista Robinson and James Rollins; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services were conducted on Monday, March 24, 2003 at the Burnham Christian Church in Jennings with Bro. Kevin Odom officiating.

Cannon, Virginia
Virginia Cannon, 58, of Branford, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2003 in Shands at Jacksonville Hospital after a short illness. The Omega, Georgia native lived in Branford most of her life; was a homemaker and a member of Lebanon Baptist Church in Branford.
Survivors include her husband, John Cannon, Branford; one daughter, Debra Moore, Branford; three sons, Johnny Cannon, McAlpin, Richard (Jim) Cannon and Travis Cannon both of Branford; three sisters, Margie Crews, Trenton, Mildred Hagan and Elizabeth Ledbetter both of Alachua. Three grandchildren, Justin Moore, Kyle Cannon and J. P. Cannon also survive.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p. m, Friday, March 21, 2003 at First Baptist Church of Branford with Rev. Eugene Polk, Rev. James Roberts and Rev. Elmer A. Crews officiating. Interment followed at Hunt Cemetery, Branford.

Onie Mary Jackson Land
Onie Mary Jackson Land, was born to the late Charles E. and Lura J. Brown Jackson on May 13, 1913. She was married on June 7, 1933 to the late Wilbur Charles Land. Together they owned and operated a country store, Land’s Grocery, for 43 years.
Onie was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend to many. She passed away at the age of 89, on Friday, March 21, 2003.
She is survived by one son, Wilbur Elvoy (Betty) Land, three grandchildren, Dean (Carmen) Land, Donna Lawson, Marc (Sonya) Land, seven great-grandchildren, Tiffany (Ryan) Perry, Brook Lawson, Whitney Land, Garret Land, Natalie Land, Kelsey Land and Lydia Land, and two great-great grandchildren, Ashley Perry and Caroline Perry. She is also survived by one sister, Bernice Jackson Hendrick of Jasper. She was predeceased by her husband Wilbur Land.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 24, 2003 at 3 p.m. at Airline Baptist Church with Brother Terry Cranford, officiating. Interment services followed at the Airline Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Larry Law officiating. Family received friends and family on Sunday, March 23, 2003 between the hours of 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Burns Chapel in Mayo.

Sharon “Sissy” Condy, 55, of Live Oak, Fla. passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2003 in her home after a long illness. The Cardwell, Mo. native moved to Live Oak, Fla. from Immokalee, Fla. in 1983, was a homemaker and a member of Luraville Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her mother, Viola Crossno of Live Oak, Fla.; two daughters, Tamala “Tammy” (Adolfo) Cruz of Branford, Fla. and Pamela “Pam” (Gregory) Turner of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, James “Mike” (Lisa) Frazier and Geoffrey “Tiger” (Joanna) Condy, both of Luraville, Fla.; five brothers, Garry Crossno of Immokalee, Fla., Arlin Crossno of Felda, Ala., Steve and Arnold Crossno, both of Luraville, Fla. and Roger Crossno of O’Brien, Fla.; 10 grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Friday, March 21, 2003 at Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Bankston and the Rev. Charlie Walker officiating.

Mary S. Andrews, 91, of Wellborn, Fla. passed away Monday, March 24, 2003 in her home. The Tampa, Fla. native moved to Wellborn, Fla. in 1947, was a homemaker and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Live Oak, Fla. She was also the original member of the Wellborn Community Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.L. Andrews Sr.
Survivors include: two daughters, Dolores M. Bethea and Mary Louise (James) Lewis, both of Wellborn, Fla.; one son, Thomas L. Andrews Jr. of Wellborn, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several cousins in Tampa, Fla.
Graveside services were conducted March 26, 2003 in Wellborn Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Pendergraft officiating.
