Estelle D. Stamper Tippett
Estelle D. Stamper Tippett, 87, of Jacksonville, beloved Westside business woman, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Jacksonville, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was known to many as “Granny” and known for her great love of her family. A native of Rockmills, Ala., she moved at an early age to Live Oak in a wagon train and lived in Jacksonville for the last 52 years. She had many interests including gardening, dogs, birds, dolls, ceramics, sewing and decorating.
Survivors include: her son, C.L. Dorsey; daughter, Connie Michener; brother, John N. Stamper (Mary); sister, Katherine Strickland; two grandchildren, Mike Michener (Catherine) and Michele Powers (Steve); and four great-grandchildren, Michaela Michener, Corey, Madison and Drew Powers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Friday, Aug. 6, in the Chapel of Fraser Funeral Home, 8168 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, 904-781-4314, with Brother Ray Mayfield officiating.
“Granny” will be missed by all who knew her.

Ada C. Saunders
Ada C. Saunders, 85, of Live Oak, passed away Monday, August 2, 2004, in the Suwannee Health Care Center, Live Oak, after a long illness. The Greenwood, N.Y. native moved to Live Oak from Alfred, N.Y. in 1956, was a registered nurse and a homemaker. She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, Live Oak.
Survivors include: three sons, Hiram (Emily) Saunders, Fort Worth, Texas, Stanley (Sue) Saunders, Marianna and John (Joann) Saunders, Live Oak; two daughters, Dr. Marilyn (John) Moore, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Teresa (Roger) Graham, Live Oak; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Stanley S. Saunders.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 5, at Community Presbyterian Church, Live Oak, with the Rev. Randy Wilding and the Rev. Quincy Simmons officiating.
Daniels Funeral Home of Live Oak was in charge of all arrangements.
Ignatius Joseph Barthle
Ignatius Joseph Barthle, 84, of McAlpin, passed away August 4, 2004, after an extended illness. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, in aviation maintenance with the 81st Fighter Squadron of the 50th Fighter Group. While fighting in the European Theatre he received the Bronze Star, American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Distinguished Unit Badge. After World War II, he continued to serve his country as a Civil Service employee with the Department of Defense and a member of the Air Force Reserves. Barthle was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Barthle, three brothers, Ted, Vincent and Herman Barthle and his sisters, Cathrine Zajac and Celeste Hancock.
Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Ethel L. Barthle of McAlpin; five sons: John L. (Elsie) Barthle of Hialeah, Edward C. Barthle of McAlpin, Thomas I. (Ilene) Barthle of West Palm Beach, Theodore B. (Leesa) Barthle of Pembroke Pines and Paul A. (Maria Elana) Barthle of Hialeah; three daughters, Lucy B. (Terry) Duffy of Sunrise, Anastasia M. Barthle of Oldsmar and Mary Cathleen (Richard) Bush of Merritt Island; three brothers, Andrew (Pat) Barthle, Jerome and Benedict Barthle all of St. Joseph; two sisters, Antoinette (Bobby) Legere of Lafayette, Ga. and Elizabeth (Tom) Guertin of Tampa; 14 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 7, at 10 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Live Oak. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, just north of Branford.
Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 6, from 6-9 p.m., at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
