Dorothy Nell Denson

Dorothy Nell Denson, 73, of Live Oak, passed away Friday, June 25, 2004, in the Kindred Hospital, Green Cove Springs following a brief illness. The Avon Park native moved to Live Oak in 1984 from Raiford. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star and the Tiger Lake Baptist Church in Live Oak.



Survivors include: her husband, Max Denson Sr. of Live Oak; her mother, Thelma Ward of Live Oak; one daughter, Belinda and Bill Tuten of Beverly Hills; one son Max Jr. and Gail Denson of Raiford; four sisters, Myrna Mills, Pat Jones and Diane Barrett all of Live Oak and Regina Williams of Lake City; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.



Memorial services were conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 29, in the Tiger Lake Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Owens and the Rev. Clare Parker officiating.



Daniels Funeral Home of Live Oak was in charge of all arrangements.



Donald “Donnie” Vernon



Donald “Donnie” Vernon, 53, of O’Brien, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2004, in Shands at Lake Shore Hospital, Lake City. The Tampa native moved to O’Brien from Old Town, 14 years ago, was a farmer, owned and operated the Dixie Dairy in O’Brien, was a member of the Dairymen’s Association and the Cattlemen’s Association. He was of Catholic faith.



Survivors include two daughters, Donna Burleson, Plant City and Elaina Dawn Vernon, Live Oak; three sisters, Maxine Urquhart, Valrico, Jessie Murray, Oxford, Ala. and Mary Theresa Hiers, Belleview; three brothers, Frank Vernon, Zephyrhills, Thomas Vernon, Brandon and Lawrence John Vernon, O’Brien; and three grandchildren.



Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m., Monday, June 28, in the Garden of Memories Funeral Home Chapel, Tampa. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Tampa.



Daniels Funeral Home of Live Oak was in charge of local arrangements.



Lorna Mae Newkirk



Lorna Mae Newkirk, 61, a resident of O’Brien, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2004, at her residence. She was born September 8, 1942, in Madison, Wis. Newkirk was very active in prison ministry, and had been for a number of years.



Survivors include: her husband, Paul Newkirk, O’Brien; four sons, Jerry Gamerdinger, Arkansas, David Gamerdinger, Alaska, Paul Gamerdinger, Kentucky and Jeffery Gamerdinger, Arkansas; granddaughters, Holly, Arkansas, Michael and Jennifer, both of Alaska; grandsons Jennet, Dalton and Jerry Jr., all of Arkansas; and a great-grandson, Gabriel, Arkansas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Biggs Funeral Home, Lake City.



Bloxam Y. Bennett



Bloxam Y. Bennett, 79, of Live Oak, passed away, Wednesday, June 23, 2004, in the V.A. Medical Center, Lake City. A native of Jennings, he was a U.S. Army, World War II, P.O.W. veteran, retired from the U.S. Postal Service and an agriculture farmer. Bennett was a member of First Advent Christian Church, Live Oak. He was the son of the late Matthew B. and Iris Culbreth Bennett.



Survivors include: his wife Edna R. Voyles Bennett of Live Oak; his son, Matthew Bloxam Bennett of Live Oak; two brothers, Mathew W. Bennett of Columbus, Ga. and Felix L. Bennett of Panama City; and one grandson, Randall Matthew Bennett of Fort Walton Beach.



Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 26, in the First Advent Christian Church with Pastor Tim Carver officiating. Interment followed in the Live Oak Cemetery.



Suwannee Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
