Gladys Goodson

Gladys Goodson of Hatch Bend passed away at her home Monday, August 2, 2004 at the age of 78. Mrs. Goodson was born and lived in Dixie County until 14 years ago when she moved to Hatch Bend in Lafayette County. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Hatch Bend Apostolic Church.



She is survived by her daughter, Betty (Farrell) Mikell of Old Town; son, Marcus Jones of Hatch Bend; brother, Morris Jerrells of Cross City; sisters, Pearl Cribbs of Bell and Mary Corbin of Cross City; granddaughter DeAnna Hicks (Tommy) Haire and great granddaughter, Caitlyn Haire. She is preceded in death by parents Alex and Hattie Jerrells, sister, Cleo Sullivan and brother Jimmy Jerrells.



Funeral services for Mrs. Goodson were held on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at 3 p.m. at the Hatch Bend Apostolic Church with Rev. Steve Boyd officiating. Interment followed in the Hatch Bend Apostolic Church Cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday, August 8, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements were under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City, 352-498-5400.



Phillip “Phil”, Sr. Norton



Phillip “Phil” Norton, Sr. 59, of O’Brien, passed away Saturday, August 7 in Shands at University of Florida, Gainesville after a long illness. The Bellefountaine, Ohio native moved to O’Brien from Key Largo in 1998, was a farmer and of Protestant faith.



Survivors include three daughters, Melissa Norton, O’Brien, Jodi Barone, Port St. Lucie and Tammy Norton, Hollywood; one son, Phillip A. Norton, Jr., Atlanta, Ga.; five sisters, Betty Nicholl and Ruth Nicholl, both of Bellefountaine, Ohio, Jean Brown, Branford, Carolyn Cheevers, Avery, TX and Joan Welch, McAlpin; six brothers, Ray, Let and Ralph Norton all of Fort Lauderdale; Bill Norton, O’Brien, Bob Norton Key Largo and Larry Norton, Plantation; five grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.



Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, August 13, at First Baptist Church in Branford with Rev. Bryan Jones officiating.



Daniels Funeral Home of Branford was in charge of all arrangements.



Shirley Ann Perry-Trummer



O’Brien, FL- On June 7, 1938 in Mansfield, OH, God gave the gift of life to Shirley Ann Perry and on August 3, 2004, after a short battle with cancer and heart failure, He called her to be reunited with her loved ones who were awaiting her with open arms. She was 66 years of age. During these years, she spent her childhood growing up and starting a family of her own in rural Ohio, then the past 30 years enjoying life in Ft Lauderdale, FL. She retired to Northern Florida in October 2003. Throughout the years of her life she spent her time working very hard overcoming many adversities and spent her free time living life to its fullest. Shirley was a very proud and patriotic American with a special passion for Betty Boop. She loved Jesus with all of her heart and trusted God to hold her in the palm of His hands. She lived and loved to the best of her ability. Shirley is survived by her daughter Lisa L Vitale (David) of Margate; three sons Terry and John “Chucky” (Luisa) Rock of Columbus, OH and Rodney (Linda) Rock of Ft Lauderdale; six grandchildren, Michael Vitale, John, Carol Ann and Christopher Rock and Patricia and Barbara McGill; 3 very special niece and nephews, Edna “Janie” and Jim (Laurie) Link and Frank (Carol) Crager; as well as three sisters, Pauline (Gus) Kline, Norma (James) Selvage of Jeromesville, OH, Thelma (Homer) Holmes of O’Brien; three brothers Elmer “Junior”, David and James Perry of Mansfield, OH. Shirley was predeceased by her 21 month old, darling daughter Robin Sue, brother Robert Perry, sister Janice (Perry) Hotham, father Elmer Perry and mother Pearl Perry- Pittsenbarger. She is survived by a large family of loving nieces and nephews also. Shirley will be dearly missed by all that knew her and loved her. Death ends a life, not a relationship. In lieu of flowers the family requests a memorial donation to be made in Shirley’s name to Hospice of North Central Florida 4200 NW 90th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32606.
