S.D. “Pockets” Cheney
S.D. “Pockets” Cheney, 60, of Live Oak, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2004, after a short illness. The Pontotoc, Miss. native moved to Live Oak 41 years ago from Hollywood. He was a U.S. Army veteran, owner/operator of Never Rest Farms of Live Oak for six years and was of Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife Mamie Cheney of Live Oak; three daughters Madeline Renee and Tim Mann of Leesburg, Sandra Cheney of Spring Hill and Shirley and Anton Williamson of Fernandina Beach; one son Doran and Rhonda Cheney of Griffin, Ga.; three sisters Millie Parker of Live Oak, Louise Starling of Ft. Lauderdale and Ruby Skinner of Live Oak; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by two brothers Doran P. Cheney and Bobby Cheney and one sister Helen Friederich.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, at Daniels Memorial Chapel in Live Oak with the Rev. J.H. Brown and the Rev. Morgan Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the veteran’s section of Live Oak Cemetery of Live Oak.
Daniels Funeral Home of Live Oak is in charge of all arrangements.
Bernice Lovett
Bernice Lovett, 84, a life-long resident of Suwannee County, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, August 29, 2004. Born in Suwannee County to Willie Lee Williams and his wife Linda Williams, she was a member of Westside Church of Christ in Live Oak.
Survivors include three sons Arthur Lovett Jr. of Daytona, Foster Lovett of Tampa and Rene Lovett of Ocala; four daughters Mary Louise Bell of Live Oak, Shellie Mae Allen of Pompano Beach, Delores Jackson of Daytona Beach and Sylvia Lovett of Live Oak.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, at Northside Church of Christ, 378 NW Gibson Lane, Lake City with Brother Sampson Genus Sr. minister and Brother Michael Dockery officiating. Committal will be in South Live Oak Community Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., today Friday, Sept. 3, at Charles T. Funeral Home of Live Oak.

Frankie M. Sneed
Frankie M. Sneed, 94, a life-long resident of McAlpin, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at Shands at Live Oak Hospital.
Survivors include one daughter Lulo M. Warren; two brothers John Rentz and Jimmie Rentz; grands Clarence, Robert, Roosevelt and Mary; sisters-in-laws Thelma Ford and Dorothy Rentz; the following families: Sneed, Rentz, Prevetts and Carters; nieces; nephews; and other close relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 4, in the Bethlehem A.M.E. Church, McAlpin.
Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 3, in the Bethlehem A.M.E. Church.
