Wilson Jennings Brown



Wilson Jennings Brown, 90, passed away, Jan. 22, 2004, at the Lake City Extended Care Center. A native of Andalusia, Ala., he was born to the late John Irvin Brown and Erie Celeta Gilmore. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 until 1945. Brown was in sales and management with Peninsular Life Insurance Company until his retirement in 1971. He moved to Wellborn in 1988 where he was a faithful member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church. Brown was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Sara Geneva Hogan Brown.



Survivors include: his son, William Jennings Brown II (De-Ette), Lake City; granddaughter Tara Giebeig (Ian), Jacksonville; and granddaughter, Monica Leigh Franklin, Roseville, Calif.



Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m., Jan. 25, in Mount Olive Baptist Church, Wellborn, with Pastor Lewis Gooch officiating. Interment followed in the Mount Olive Cemetery.



Arrangements were under the direction of Sherrill-Guerry Funeral Home, Lake City.



Fred C. Glass III



Fred C. Glass III, 50, of Live Oak, passed away Jan. 31, 2004, in Madison. The Suwannee County native was an automobile salesman and a member of Community Presbyterian Church, Live Oak.

Survivors include: his parents, Fred C. and Hilda F. Glass Jr., Live Oak; two daughters, Mary Jeffers, Lake City and Jodi Glass, Daytona Beach; two sisters, Lawanna Fernald and Jovita Skierski, both of Live Oak; one brother, Thad Glass, Live Oak; and one granddaughter, Kendal Jeffers, Lake City.



Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m., today, Feb. 4, at Community Presbyterian Church, Live Oak, with the Rev. Randy Wilding and the Rev. Doug Cagle officiating. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery. Family requests flowers and/or donations to charity or church of your choice.

Obituary for the Jasper News, Feb. 5, 2004 issue



Sandra L. McCracken



Sandra L. McCracken, 63, of Perry, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004 at Health South in Tallahassee following a brief illness. Sandra was born in Arcadia, and lived most of her life in Perry.



Survivors include her son, Ralph McCracken of Perry; her daughter, Karen Lynn French, Hinesville, GA.; and her father, Ralph Willis, Dunnellon; four grandchildren, R. J. and Austin McCracken, Jeremy Burnett and Cody French.



Graveside services were held Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Oak Grove Cemetery near Jennings. The family received friends at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home just prior to the service.

Principato, Santo ‘Sam’



Santo ‘Sam’ Principato, 88 passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27 at his residence following a long illness.

The Brooklyn, New York native was born Dec. 20, 1915 and moved to the Wellborn area from New York in 1988. He was a brick mason and a member of Siloam United Methodist Church of Lake City.



He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Principato of Wellborn; a daughter, Sharon of Stewart; and son Herbert of New York; three sisters, Michelena Rovendio of Port St. Lucie, Mary Salerno and Madelyn Masiello both of New York. Three grandchildren, Jason, Tabitha and Taylor also survive.

Funeral services were conducted, Saturday, Jan. 31 at 3 p.m. in Siloam United Methodist Church with Rev. A. F. Donovan officiating.



Interment followed in Siloam United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday evening 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Obituary for the Mayo Free Press, Feb. 5, 2004 issue



Linda Willis- Maggert



Linda Willis Maggert, 55, of Hendersonville, NC, died Thursday, January 29, 2004, at The Laurels of Hendersonville after a long-term illness.



She was born March 6, 1948, in Lafayette County, FL, the daughter of Mildred Christine Willis of Mayo, FL, and the late Jordan A. Willis. She was a loving wife for 33 years to Paul Eugene Maggert of Hendersonville, NC.



She was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Lyles and Lavonda Mann, and one brother, David Willis.



Before moving to Henderson County, she lived in Mayo, for many years. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, and active in her church, Dana Baptist. Linda is remembered for her loving, generous spirit. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone.



In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two daughters, Shana Collins and husband, Matthew; and Rebekah Lunsford and husband, Robert; one son, Chris Maggert and wife, Joyce, all of Hendersonville, NC, eight grandchildren, Micheal, Brian, and Austin Heatherly; Chris, Jr., and Madison Maggert; Hannah, Taylor, and Krista Lunsford; one step-grandson, Cody Sorrells; two sisters, Myrtle Land and husband, Alvin, of Mayo, FL; and Diane Vanosdol and husband, Jesse, of Cross City, FL; two brothers, Danny Willis of Wakulla, FL, and Kenneth Willis of Live Oak, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews.



A funeral service was held at 2 PM Sunday, February 1, 2004, at Dana Baptist Church with the Reverend Dan Blackwell officiating. Burial followed at Dana Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 7 – 8:30 PM Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Shuler Funeral Home.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Laurels of Hendersonville, Activity Department, 2220 N. Main St., Hendersonville, NC 28792, in appreciation for the care that was given to Linda while she was there.
