Nancy J. Smith

Mrs. Nancy J. Smith, 79, of Jennings, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2004. Mrs. Smith was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and was a retired insurance clerk for Lincoln Life Insurance Company. She and her husband retired to Florida and lived in Jennings for the past 15 years. Mrs. Smith was of the Presbyterian faith.



Survivors include her husband, Harry E. Smith; two sons, Richard Smith of Indiana and David Smith of Kentucky; two daughters, Carol Mathews; Arkansas and Diane Smith of Virginia; two sisters, Martha Blakley, Indiana and Mary Tobis, Michigan; and one grandson, Scott Smith.



Private memorial services will be held at a later date.



In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2123 Mango Place, Jacksonville, FL 32207.



Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, was in charge of arrangements.



Bloxam Y. Bennett



Mr. Bloxam Y. Bennett, 79, of Live Oak died Wednesday, June 23, 2004 in the V. A. Medical Center in Lake City. He is a native of Jennings. He is a U. S. Army WW II P. O. W. veteran. He was retired from the U. S. Postal Service and was an Agriculture Farmer. He was a member of the First Advent Christian Church. He is the son of the late Matthew B. and Iris Culbreth Bennett.



Survivors include: his wife, Edna R. Voyles Bennett of Live Oak; his son, Matthew Bloxam Bennett of Live Oak; two brothers, Mathew W. Bennett of Columbus, GA. and Felix L. Bennett of Panama City, FL. and one grandson, Randall Matthew Bennett of Fort Walton Beach.



Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 26, 2004 in the First Advent Christian Church with Pastor Tim Carver officiating. Interment followed in Live Oak Cemetery.



Suwannee Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



Mrs. Elsie Louise King Scaff



Mrs. Elsie Louise King Scaff, 92, of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center. Mrs. Scaff was born in Hamilton County on April 11, 1912 to the late Paul and Birta Smith King. She was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church near Jennings. Mrs. Scaff was preceded in death by her husband, Stafford L. Scaff, Sr.



Survivors include one daughter, Marie Goolsby (David Sr.), Jasper; three sons, Lester Scaff (Anne), Lake City, Richard Scaff (Rena Vee), Lake City, and Gary Scaff (Teresa), Hosford; one brother, Arthur Paul King (Emma), Jennings; one sister, Helen Selph, Jennings; six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 25 at New Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Codero assisted by Pastor Harold Reams.



Interment followed in the church cemetery.
