Ola Oledia Jackson
Ola Oledia Jackson, age 79, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 in Mayo. She was the daughter of the late William Henry and Clyde (Miller) Sullivan. Mrs. Jackson was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette County.
She was a Baptist and a member of the Midway Baptist Church in Mayo. She and her husband were the Owner’s of Jackson’s Country Store and the Midway Grill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Drew Jackson and a brother, Wallace “Plug” Sullivan.
Survivors include; (2) daughters; Nelda King and husband Charlie, and Martha Drew Humphries and husband Perry, all of Mayo, (2) brothers; James Aaron Sullivan, of Moultrie, Ga., and Tom Sullivan, of Starke, (7) grandchildren; Amy, Andy, April, Ben, Dana, David and Wayne and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2004 at the Midway Baptist Church with Bro. Kenny Sullivan and Bro. Mark Mercer officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery.
Family received friends on Thursday evening at the Mayo Chapel from 6-8 p.m.

William Harold Swann, Sr.
William Harold Swann, Sr. age 84, died Monday, May 24, 2004 at his residence in Mayo. He was a native of Bessmer, Alabama.
Coming from Alaska he had lived in Mayo for the past 27 years. Mr. Swann served in the 748th Batallion under Gen. George Patton, one of three tanks to survive crossing the Rhine into Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart and received a citation from Britain and France for his heroic duties.
He previously worked as a packer for Pasco Packing Company and was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Fairbanks and he enjoyed fox hunting.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Swann.
Survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary (Pemberton) Swann, of Day Town, FL, (2) sons; William Harold Swann, Jr., of Day Town, and James Lee Swann and wife Amy, of Dade City, (9) grandchildren and (11) great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive him.
No services are planned at this time.

James Thomas Matthews
Mr. James Thomas Matthews passed away on Friday, May 28, 2004 at the Lafayette Health Care Center in Mayo. He was 83 years of age. Mr. Matthews moved to Hatch Bend in 1981 from Lakeland. He worked as a Railroad Flagman for the Seaboard Coastline.
Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife, Ruby Matthews of Hatch Bend, FL; daughter, Ella of Lakeland, FL; son, Jimmy Matthews of Polk City, FL; stepson, David Douglas of Lakeland, FL; stepdaughters, Lavonne Blessing of Wytheville, VA, and Connie Youngblood of Lakeland, FL. He has 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at Hatch Bend Baptist Church in Hatch Bend, with Rev. John Lunsford, Rev. Ernest Lambert and Rev. James Edenfield officiating.
