Suwannee volleyball suffered the lost of their number-one setter to a soccer injury recently. The Lady Dog shave been trying to fill the key position with several other players but have missed Cortney Benson’s presence on the court. The Lady Dogs dropped two matches in a row and won one to make their record after the Branford game 8-9 for the season.

The Lady Dogs lost to Baker, a district match, in five games. The Lady Dogs fought hard but lost. Suwannee won the first game 25-22, lost the second 20-25, won the third 25-21, lost the fourth game in a close squeaker 24-26 and then lost the deciding fifth game 10-15 in Baker.

Suwannee also lost to Ft. White in three straight games 22-25, 20-25 and 21-25. The Lady Dogs came back and defeated Branford in four games 25-20, 13-25, 25-12 and 25-18.

Alex Camunas and Jasmine Jefferson were Suwannee’s key players in the Branford game. Camunas had 13 service points, three of them aces, eight kills, three assists and a block.

Jefferson remains Suwannee’s net giant with 10 kills against Branford. Jefferson had two service points and two assists and a block.

Stephanee Skipper has stepped in to take Benson’s place as setter. Skipper had 12 assists against Branford and two kills.

Nikki Reed turned up the heat on her serve. Reed’s serves buffaloed Branford. Reed had 17 service points, three of them aces. Reed also had three assists.

Danielle Smith’s serve was booming against Branford. Smith had eight service points, one an ace, three kills, one assist and one block.

Lacy Smith had three kills, two service points and three assists.

Rebecca Roberts had three service points.

Shalisa Cuyler had two service points and an assist.

The JV Lady Dogs also won their match in three games. The JV won the first game 25-16, lost the second and won the third 15-9.
