Summer Dog baseball took on North Florida Christian (NFC) Tuesday, June 14. Rain threatened but held off and both games were completed. Suwannee fought a slugfest for the first game. NFC pulled five pitchers into the game to beat the Dogs. The runs stacked up to a final 10-12 score after seven full innings. Suwannee 10-run ruled NFC in the second game 16-2. That game ended after five innings.

Six pitchers took the mound for Suwannee in both games. Ross Aretino started in game one. Aretino was relieved by Daniel Tillman who pitched two innings followed by Billy Moran. NFC hit all three pitchers wracking up 12 runs.

The second game was a different story. Michael Keene started, followed by Marc Radford and Nick Reppert came in to close the game.

Billy Moran hit three home-runs, two in the first game and a two-run homer in the second game. Rheed Baldwin hit a HUGE homerun in the first game. It flew high into the trees over the centerfield fence and probably landed in the tennis courts across the street.

The game played in less-than-ideal conditions. The humidify ran close to 100 percent, making the pitching difficult. The air was so thick, the ball could barely pick up any speed.

Taylor Abercrombie had a double in the third inning of the first game. Marc Radford doubled off an NFC throwing error in the fourth inning of the first game. Ross Aretino doubled in the fourth inning. Suwannee was up 7-4 going into the fifth. NFC scored four runs in the fifth inning to go up by one run 7-8.

Nathan Moses doubled in the bottom of the fifth. Moses had to be toted off to the emergency room for stitches after smacking into the NFC catcher on his way to home base. At the end of five innings, the game was tied 8-8.

In the bottom of the seventh, Billy Moran hit his second home run of the game, immediately followed by Baldwin’s huge homer. Gabe Galloway doubled but was left on base as the game ended with Suwannee losing 10-12.

Michael Keene started on the mound for the second game and gave up NFC’s only two runs during the first inning. Aretino doubled off the first pitch of the second game. The Moran hit another homer, driving in Aretino. Galloway got a base hit followed by Josh Wigelsworth with a base hit. Zack Davis drove in Galloway to make it a 3-2 ball game. Suwannee never looked back on their way to scoring 16 runs. The Summer Dogs had 14 hits in the game.
