Suwannee loses district game to Middleburg

It’s a new season for Suwannee volleyball and a new district. Coach Cissy Witt said the district would be tough this year and she was right. After two district matches, the Lady Dogs are 0-2 in district play. But there is hope. The Lady Dogs won one game of the four played in the match and lost the other three.
Suwannee fought hard in the first game, coming back and trying hard for the win. The Lady Dogs lost the first 17-25, won the second 25-20, lost the third 12-25 and lost the final game 20-25.
Cortney Benson, Suwannee’s new setter, had nine service points, four of them aces, and nine assists.
Alex Camunas had five kills, three assists and two blocks.
Nikki Reed had seven service points, two of them aces, one kill and two assists.
Jasmine Jefferson had three kills and four service points. Stephanee Skipper had two kills, four service points, one of them an ace, and one assist.
Lacy Smith had four service points, one of them an ace.
Danielle Smith had two kills. Rebecca Roberts had three service points.
The JV Lady Dogs also lost the match 14-25 first game and 20-25 the second.
The Lady Dogs will be in Branford on Tuesday Sept. 6. Game time for that match is 5 p.m. for the JV and 6 p.m. for the varsity. Look for more Lady Dog volleyball at home on Thursday, Sept. 8 against Madison. The JV take to the court at 5 p.m. and the varsity at 6 p.m. go Lady Dogs!
