Suwannee volleyball defeats Lafayette in four games

Suwannee volleyball took on the Lafayette Lady Hornets Oct. 12 in the Suwannee gym. The Lady Dogs came out strong and won the first two games 25-15, 25-18, but lost the third 18-25. They won the match when they defeated the Lady Hornets in the last game of the series 25-11. This sends their record to an all-time high of 11-5 for the season.
Leading the team in kills was Ashley Rose with a monstrous 14. Rose also had nine service points, five of them aces, one assist and one blocked shot.
Heather Benson had 28 assists for the Lady Dogs along with two kills and 14 service points, seven of them aces.
Stephanee Skipper had six kills, 16 service points, four of them aces and three assists.
Kyla Serrano had 12 service points, four of them aces and five assists.
Alex Camunas had nine kills for the Lady Dogs, three service points and four aces.
Merlonda Owens had four kills, six service points, three of them aces and two assists.
Suwannee’s libero player Nereyda Pecina had four assists. The libero is strictly a defensive player, no serving and no working the net.
The JV Lady Dogs lost to Lafayette in three games 18-25, 28-26 and 12-15.
Suwannee goes into the volleyball district championships next week. Go Lady Dogs!
