Tabernacle Baptist hosts Christian league State Playoffs

Local church school, Tabernacle Baptist, hosted the recent Florida Christian League Volleyball and Football State Play-offs. Eight volleyball teams and eight flag football teams traveled to Live Oak to play for the two state championships. The flag football games were played on the field adjacent to Tabernacle Baptist and the volleyball games were played at the Live Oak Coliseum. The tournaments lasted two days, Nov. 11-12.
In the first round of volleyball, West Meadows beat Bethel but lost to Nassau. Emmanuel defeated Liberty and Temple. Nassau and Emmanuel played and Nassau won. But Emmanuel played the winner of the loser’s bracket, West Meadows, won and had to play Nassau in the final round. Nassau won, taking the state championship for Florida Christian League volleyball. Nassau Christian is from Yulee.
In the first round of flag football, Soul Harbor beat West Meadows and went on to defeat Success. Success beat Bethel in the first round but lost to Soul Harbor. Mill Creek beat Grace, while Liberty defeated Emmanuel and then defeated Mill Creek. Liberty and Souls Harbor played for the championship with Liberty taking home the win. Liberty Christian is from Sanford.
