A travel trailer stolen from the lot of Maddox Auto Sales, North Suwannee Ave., has been recovered and returned to the property, where it was stolen.
Wayne Maddox owner of Maddox Auto Sales called The Branford News last week to say his travel trailer valued at several thousand dollars had been returned, and the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it with a report on Jan. 19.
The Branford News carried a photo and story of the stolen trailer the first week in Nov. 2004, and this theft story had a happy ending with the return of the property the later part of January this year.
According to a report issued by the SCSO, John Steven Lloyd of 8728 208th Place, O’Brien was arrested and charged with grand theft, and with dealing in stolen property. The camper was recovered on Lloyd’s property, and he stated he bought it from a guy named Joe Williams for $1800. The report went on to say the camper was brand new when it was stolen and was valued at $18,000.
Maddox told the News, “a lady who wishes to remain anonymous tipped the sheriff’s office off about where the travel trailer was located. I was totally surprised it was recovered. I didn’t expect to see it again.”
According to Maddox, the trailer was in fairly good condition. “It has been used,” Maddox said.
The theft and recovery is under investigation by Sgt. Chris Frye of the SCSO.
