Kayla Gandiana and Danielle Smith will be going to the state weightlifting championships in Deland on Feb. 12.

Smith qualified for the state meet lifting 165 on the bench and 165 in the clean and jerk for a total of 330.

Gandiana lifted 140 on the bench and 145 in the clean and jerk for a total of 285.

Both girls are in the middle of the standings as far as total weight lifted. The highest total in Smith’s category among the qualifiers was 410 In Gandiana’s weightclass 360 is the amount to beat.
