It was a happy crowd that packed the Lafayette High School (LHS) gym on the opening night (Sunday) of a four night “Youth Explosion.”
Worship 101, a praise band from Jacksonville had everyone standing, clapping or however they chose to keep time to the up-beat sounds coming from the five-person band. The band was a return engagement from last year’s youth explosion and according to those in attendance they were still a favorite.
David Blair, a seasoned youth speaker will bring the message each night. Blair has ministered throughout the U.S. at various youth retreats. He said he is thrilled to see a community that supports the efforts of youth pastors and their youth.
“I appreciate all those attending, it is such a pleasure to be here to see our youth excited about worship to God,” Blair said.
Youth Explosion 2004 is sponsored by YMOM (Youth Ministers of Mayo) and local businesses. The event is coordinated through FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) a school-related youth club under the leadership of Mike Harris, a teacher at Lafayette High School.
All offerings received at the nightly services will go toward a FCA scholarship to be awarded to a deserving student at LHS.
