PELHAM

Moses Wright Turner Jr.

Moses Wright Turner Jr., 95, of Pelham, Ga. died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 of an apparent heart attack after several years of declining health. Born in Thompson, Ga. on July 8, 1910, he was the son of the late Moses Wright Turner and Rebecca Neal Turner. At an early age, he and his family moved to Pelham where he lived the rest of his life.

He was a successful business man, having joined his father in the hardware business in 1929 and built a business of several furniture stores, finance companies, and other business interests. His business acumen, high ethical standards, and fiscal responsibility provided the vehicle for continued growth of the family business by his children and grandchildren.

M.W. Turner’s love of his community led him to many areas of service and leadership. He served many years as chairman of the Pelham School Board, Chairman of the Pelham Development Corporation and was a charter member of the Pelham Rotary Club. His Christian training and love of Hand Memorial United Methodist Church gave him leadership roles in the local church as well as 25 years on the Board of Trustees of Epworth by the Sea and several years of service on the Board of Trustees of Andrew College.

Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Tom Guffey of Huntsville, Ala.; sons and daughters-in-law, Wright and Betsy Turner of Valdosta and Scott and Peggy Turner of Pelham; a sister, Rebecca Turner of Moultrie; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Brinson Turner; his sisters Lucy Rumble and Eugenia Eubanks; and a brother, Fortson Turner.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006 at Hand Memorial United Methodist Church in Pelham with interment to follow in Pinecrest Memory Gardens on Hwy. 19 North. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Fortson Turner, Austin Turner, Scott Turner, Russell Turner, Steven Turner, Jay Leverett, and nephews, Neal Rumble, Jimmy Eubanks, and Turner Eubanks.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Scott and Peggy Turner at 171 Palmer St. in Pelham from 5-7 p.m. today, Jan. 18, 2006.

VALDOSTA

William Richard Donathan

William Richard Donathan, Sr., 77, of Valdosta died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on March 25, 1928 in Covington, Ky. to the late William and Edith Cooper Donathan and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mr. Donathan was retired from the United States Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Tokuko Donathan of Valdosta; four sons and three daughters-in-law, William R. Donathan, Jr. of Valdosta, David and April Donathan of Eubank, Ky., Dean and Becky Donathan of Thomasville and Daniel and Amy Donathan of Valdosta; his grandchildren, Colleen Donathan, Tia Donathan, Brandi (Chris) Miranda, Daniel Donathan, Jr., LeeLa Donathan and Kali Donathan; great-grandson, Christian Miranda.

Sterling Leroy Price

Sterling Leroy Price, 87 of Statenville, died on Jan. 16, 2005 at Manor Care of Marietta, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at the Statenville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Brushy Creek Cemetery in Ocilla. The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 20, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
