Softball Tournament

On March 17, the Lady Bucs traveled to play in the Lady Bell Bulldogs Invitational Tournament on that night. The Lady Bucs faced off against another Lady Bucs who traveled from New Port Richey- The Gulf Breeze Lady Bucs.

Branford would score in the first inning with junior Tara Starling hitting a infield home run to right center. The Branford Bucs would struggle in the second, third and fourth innings only to score again in the fifth inning on a Rachel Eilers triple to score Christin Trisch who had a single to get on base. Branford would fall short by a score of 15-2.

On Saturday, the Lady Bucs would again travel back to Bell to meet 5A South Fork Lady Bulldogs from Stewart. The Lady Bucs would again struggle in the first inning. In the second Shauna Nettles would rip one in between center and right field to get a double and would be left standing alone in the second. In the third the Lady Bucs would revive and battle around. JV player Catherine Trisch would start us off in the third inning to begin a six run score. Scoring in that inning would be Tara Starling, Kershta Mitchell, Shauna Nettles, Whitney Perry and Kelly Dempsey.

The Lady Bucs would again in the fifth come to the plate and score once again three more runs starting with Tara Starling, Rachel Eilers and Kershta Mitchell. The Lady Bucs would fall short once again by a score of 25-9.

The final round of the Lady Bulldog Invitational would match up the Lady Bucs from Branford and the Lady Bulldogs of Bell. The Lady Bucs would be the home team and take the mound first. Pitching was freshman Ciera Trisch. Bell would score eight runs in the first inning. Branford would struggle at the plate.

Once again as Bell retired our first three batters- in the second inning Kelly Dempsey would hit a single to start us off. Next Roxie Eilers would single also to move the base runner around into scoring position. Coming to bat would be senior Whitney Perry who would walk making the bases loaded. Jenna Garrett would also walk scoring senior Kelly Dempsey. Tara Starling would single scoring Roxy Eilers and Bell would retire the next batter, to finish the second inning.

Branford struggled in the third and fourth innings trying to come back in the fifth. Bell would retire our first two batters, with senior Kershta Mitchell getting on with a single. Senior Kelly Dempsey would step up to the plate and hit a infield home run scoring herself and teammate. Bell would come out on top to beat the Lady Bucs.

The Lady Bucs will play at home against the Hawthorne Hornets on March 28. Come out and support the Lady Bucs.
