To the reader who wrote “The increase in gas prices is due to the fact that oil companies routinely perform maintenance on their plants which causes less gas to be shipped”: If less gas being shipped is the reason for the price increase, how come you can buy all you want and there is no shortage? Does it cost them more to ship less gas? Maybe you need to do some research.
The Bush administration keeps pointing to the good we’re doing in Iraq, just as previous administrations kept telling us we were winning the hearts and minds of the Vietnamese. They lied then, and they are lying now. Bring the troops home before we reach 50,000 casualties fighting someone else’s civil war for them.
Thank you to Sgt. Leslie Brogdon from the Valdosta Fire Department for adopting Monty and providing him a good loving home. It’s great to know that Monty will be cared for and become useful to keep children safe and teach them about animal cruelty.
What a great outcome for Monty. People need to realize that animals have feelings just like us. Treat them as you would wish to be treated and in return they will love you endlessly.
Thanks for all of those people that have donated their time and resources for Monty. There are still kind people in this world. I would like to know how to go about contributing to his cause.
No one wants to cut out women’s athletics. The fact of the matter is that there are simply more males that want to play sports. I know for a fact that the high schools in this area have excellent women’s softball and basketball programs, especially Lowndes.
Kudos to the Valdosta Fire Department for adopting Monty. Training him to help teach children the importance of fire safety is a wonderful idea, and I am thrilled to know that he will be cared for and loved. May God bless Monty and the Valdosta Fire Department!
A big paws up to Dr. Amanda Perry for taking care of Monty free of charge for a year.
Like law enforcement officers and firefighters, paramedics and EMTs are also in dangerous situations from day to day. Not only do they not get enough recognition, their pay does not reflect their skill, dedication, or sacrifices. Let’s give these men and women a pat on the back — and a pay raise!
Let’s fix the numerous problems in this country before we go to Iraq and brag about all of the “good things” we’re doing over there.
Hi, y’all are doing a good job on your paper. Thanks for the info.
Yes, the prices of everything has gone up, including gas. But has everything more than doubled in the last six years? I think not. Gas is still far out pacing other cost-of-living expenses.
I think the news media is doing a fine job reporting on Iraq. If there was more good news coming out of the place, you’d see more good news on television, but that’s not the way war works. Quit blaming the media for what’s going wrong.
