Christine Williamson Troxell

Funeral services for Christine Williamson Troxell of Cordele will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, at Cordele First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Troxell died at her residence Wednesday, April 12, 2006. She was born Friday, June 30, 1933, in Sumter County and was the daughter of the late Christie Durham Williamson and Sara Stroup Williamson and the widow of James Hubert Troxell. A special education teacher (ret.), she had been employed by the Crisp County School System for 34 years. Mrs. Troxell served for many years on the Special Olympics committee and had been named Georgia Teacher Of The Year. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association in the Americus District. She was a member of Cordele First United Methodist Church and had served as a Sunday School teacher and pianist.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Aras and Randy Bridges of Cordele; three sons and their wives, Jimmie and Kelly Troxell of Warwick, David and Peggy Troxell of Laurinburg, N.C., and Kenny Troxell of Cordele; seven grandchildren, Kristi Bridges, Brandon Bridges, Michael Troxell, Taylor Troxell, Miles Troxell, Logan Troxell and Valea daughter-in-law, Lisa Troxell of Perry; a brother, Rev. Cephas Durham Williamson and his wife, Elaine of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and three nieces.

Mary J. Turner

Mary J. Turner, 73 of Lake Park since 1999, and formerly of Oklahoma, died on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at her residence after a lengthy illness.

Born on December 2, 1932 in Daytown, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Roy Felton and Lula Baker Lynch. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Idabel, Okla.

She is survived by her husband, Willie Turner of Lake Park; daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Calvin Fussell of Twin Lakes, Gay Lewis of Lake Park; grandchildren, Tracey Phillips of Lake Park, Calvin II and Angel Fussell of Lakeland, Teisha and Billy Joe Mathis of Lake Park, Samantha Fussell of Twin Lakes, Landon Lewis and Damon Lewis both of Idabel, Okla.; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Doris Cloney of Valdosta; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Hilton Eugene Lynch.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2006, at McLane Lakewood Chapel in Lake Park with Chaplain Skip Van Nus and the Rev. Robert Dawson officiating. Amanda ‘Mandy’ L. Roberts

Amanda “Mandy” L. Roberts, 88, of Sparks, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Memorial Hospital of Adel.

She was born Feb. 11, 1918 to the late Charlie and Mattie Lou Hooker Rentz. Mrs. Roberts was a member of Concord Primitive Baptist Church and was a housewife.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Marueen Roberts of Sparks; two daughters, Vicie L. Roach of Sparks and Mattie E. Exum of Sparks; one sister, Mary Alice Hasty of Jacksonville, Fla.; nineteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Roberts; two sons, L. D. Roberts and James Edward Roberts; three brothers, Charlie D. Rentz, Lonnie Rentz and Willie G. Rentz.

Judith Leonard Fackiner

Judith Marie Fackiner, 68, of Quitman passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center.

She was born in Waterloo, Iowa to Bernard Blaney and Ruth Blachski Leonard. She was a retired sales clerk for Belk and a member of St. James Episcopal Church.

She is survived by two sisters, Joyce Keller of Sacramento, Calif., Janet Wilson of Paradise, Calif; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Susan Leonard of Sacramento, Calif; sister-in-law, Martha Fackiner of Atlanta; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Duriell Travis Branham, 24, of Valdosta died Sunday, April 9, 2006.

He lived at 602 Old Lake Park Road in Valdosta. He was born in Palatka, Fla., on March 20, 1982. First Line Corporation employed him. He attended school in the Valdosta City School System. His grandparents, the late Thelma Branham and James Branham, preceded him in death.

Sarah Ruth Beaty Jackson

Sarah Ruth Beaty Jackson, 83, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 9, 2006, at South Georgia Medical Center.

Sarah was born on Oct. 27, 1922 in Fruitland, to the late John Willie and Hattie Beaty. She was preceded in death by one brother, Roosevelt Beaty, and one brother-in-law, David Jackson. Sarah was a very devoted and loving wife and mother. She received Christ at an early age and was a faithful member at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband of 62 years, Homer Lee Jackson of Valdosta; four sons, Alfonza, Homer, Joe and Bernard Jackson; five daughters, Vivan Horton, LaVerne Moss, Linda Jackson, Loretha Copeland and Patricia Adams ; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Willie Beaty; two loving and caring sisters-in-law, Georgia Beaty and Elizabeth Jackson; brother-in-law, Arthur Lee Jackson; special cousin, Grace Williams; two special friends and neighbors, Tillie Mae Johnson and Eula Godfrey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Shirley Jones

Shirley Jones, 48, of Valdosta died Monday, April 10, 2006, at South Georgia Medical Center. Her father Mr. Izell Jones Sr. precedes her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving son, Charlie Jones; a loving daughter, Selena Jones; a loving mother Mary Kelsia; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera Ponder (Billy), Virginia Pearl (Larry), and Denise Jenkins (Joe); one brother, Izell Jones (Teresa); three godsons, John Wright, Leon McConnehead Jr. and Atari McConnehead; a loving supporter, Leon McConnehead Sr.; two best friends, Sharon Straughter and Darlene Fiffie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.

Clifford Johnson

Clifford Johnson, 81, of Valdosta, passed away April 10, 2006, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Waycross to the late Herman David Johnson and Ellie Boyette Johnson Peacock. After graduating from Waycross High School, he married the late Lee Annie Fish Johnson in 1946 and was married 56 years. Mr. Johnson was in the grocery business, serving as district manager for Suwannee Swifty stores in the south Georgia north Florida area for many years. Mr. Johnson served faithfully as an elder in the Cordele, Adel, and Valdosta congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Those surviving Mr. Johnson include two daughters and sons-in-laws, Geneva Ann and Carl King of MacClenny, Fla. and Betty Sue and Donnie Price of Thomasville; three sons and daughter-in-law, David Johnson of Valdosta, Bobby and Constance Johnson of Valdosta, and Ken Johnson of Valdosta. Other survivors include nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Chadwick Johnson, Nathan, Jeremy, Joseph, and Christie King, Becky Lewis, Jennifer Richter, Brianna Johnson, Shelby and Emily King, Eva Kate and Ranon Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews as well as a large spiritual family.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Lee Annie Fish Johnson, his son, Stephen Michael Johnson, and his parents.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2006, at 1:30 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on North Forrest Street in Valdosta.
