Doris Virginia Dukes
Doris Virginia Dukes, 82, of Dunnellon, Fla., passed away Saturday, April 15, 2006 at her residence in Dunnellon.
She was born in Colquitt County, Ga. and came to Dunnellon, Fla. from Valdosta, Ga. in 1991. She was a charter member of the Azalea City Baptist Church in Valdosta; loved cooking, gardening, and sewing, but her greatest enjoyment in life were her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Frank M. Dukes.
She is survived by a daughter, Beverely V. Deakins of Dunnellon, Fla.; son, Frank (Sonny) Dukes, Port Orange, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Ethaline Burkett, Valdosta; and brother, Chick Powell.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Dukes will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2006 in Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman with her nephew, the Rev. Earl Burkett officiating. Dorothy ‘Virginia’ Johnson
Dorothy “Virginia” Johnson, passed away April 18, 2006 at her residence. She was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church for over 36 years.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Joseph Edwards of Ellenwood, Tammie and David Turner, Valdosta, Brenda and Mark Walker, Covington, Ga., Kelly and Peanut Ward, Sharpsburg; eight grandchildren; four sisters and brother-in-law, Christine Long, Atlanta, Hassle and Norman Roberts, Alexandria, Ala., Irene Pruitt, Ohatchee, Ala., Imy Curvin, Alexandria, Ala., Bobbie Phillips, Alexandria, Ala.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. T.G. and Virginia McDonald, Omaha, Neb., Boots and Betty McDonald, Albany, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2006 at Bible Baptist Church, Hampton, Ga. with Dr. Norman Pyle and the Rev. Brad Blanton officiating. Interment will be held in Pleasant Ridge Church Cemetery, Choccolocco, Ala. at 4 p.m. Visitation will be held this evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. — Thomas L. Mr. William Terry “Yogi” Griner, 57, of Adel passed away at his residence April 18, 2006. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Rice officiating. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Andrew Jackson Jr.
Andrew Jackson Jr. passed this life April 13, 2006. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church and the Rev. James Homer Tyre, 82 of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the Veterans Hospital in Lake City, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2006 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
