John B. Folsom Sr.
LAKE PARK — John B. Folsom Sr., 66, of Lake Park passed away early Saturday afternoon, July 22, 2006, in South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness.
John was born Dec. 31, 1939, in Lowndes County to the late William and Mary Bell Thornton Folsom. He was the owner and operator of Folsom Body Shop and Auto Sales in Valdosta, had served in the United States Navy, and was a member of Azalea Masonic Lodge No. 716, American Legion Post No. 13, and The Hassan Temple. He was also a Royal Arch Mason, and member of First Baptist Church in Valdosta.
John was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William A. Folsom Jr., and three sisters, Louise Feagle, Eula Mae Ashley and Irma James.
Survivors include his devoted and loving wife, Kathy Folsom of Lake Park; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Joe Henkels of Clyattville; three sons and a daughter-in-law, John Folsom Jr. of Madison, Fla., Mitchell Folsom of Lake Park and Bill and Yvette Folsom of Anniston, Ala.; a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Kim and Stacy Brogdon of Lake Park; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Hazel Thompson of Brookville, Fla., Francis Hardee of Oklahoma City, Okla., Linda and David Doty of Walsenburg, Colo., and Martha Sue and Bob Kell of Margate, Fla.; a special nephew, Roland Edwards of Morven; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, in the Spring Head Cemetery in Cook County with full Masonic rites. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be sent to the Shriners Hospital.

Adel
Iris Shepherd Lawhorn
ADEL — Mrs. Iris Shepherd Lawhorn, 84, of Adel died Saturday, July 22, 2006, following a long illness at the Memorial Convalescent Center of Adel.
Mrs. Lawhorn was born April 6, 1922, in Turner County to the late Gordon D. Shepherd and the late Willie Thompson Shepherd. She lived most of her life in Cook County, attended Adel United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Lawhorn was preceded in death by her husband, Norman S. Lawhorn, and sister, Lilla Mae Sumner.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Gary M. and Anna S. Lawhorn of Adel; grandchildren, Doug and Robin Lawhorn of Jacksonville, Fla., and Andy Lawhorn of Adel and fiancee Eve Guinn of Valdosta; and great-grandchildren, Will Lawhorn of Adel and Tayler Lawhorn of Adel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today in the chapel of Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Ben Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery Annex. The family received friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. — Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home.

Louise Tomlinson Mathis
HOMERVILLE — Mrs. Louise Tomlinson Mathis, 90, of Homerville, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2006, in the South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Mathis was born Jan. 7, 1916, in Clinch County to the late James Tomlinson Sr. and Agnes Eva Dame Tomlinson. She was a nurse and had worked at Huey-Terry Hospital in Homerville and Louis Smith Hospital in Lakeland, a member of the Camp Creek Missionary Baptist Church and Woodman of the World. She was the widow of Sineath Elwood Mathis.
Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Parker, one brother, James Tomlinson Jr., and one great-granddaughter, Madison MaryLouise Sutton.
Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lynn and Rayburn Colburn of Homerville; one son and daughter-in-law, James Mac “Jim” and Terry Mathis of Lakeland; one brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Jane Tomlinson of Homerville; five grandchildren, Kin and Roland Sutton, Michael and Brandi King, Steven Patrick Mathis, and Mitchell King and Lee Colburn; 12 great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.
Services for Mrs. Mathis will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Camp Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Internment will be in the Camp Creek Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Mathis will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight. — Roundtree Funeral Home
