Still time to early vote, election Sept. 5

Voters, if you want to save time and energy and make sure your vote is already cast prior to election day Sept. 5, now’s your last chance. Early voting ends Saturday, Sept. 2.
Early voting has been underway for nearly two weeks but will end this Saturday, Sept. 2 at 4:30 p.m.. Suwannee County Supervisor of Elections Glenda Williams’ office is open for early voting today through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Anyone registered to vote in Suwannee County can go to the office at 220 Pine Avenue and cast your vote.
The primary election will be held Tuesday, Sept. 5 with polls open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Those on the ballot for the Sept. 5 election are as follows:
Local:
Suwannee County Commission District 4 (Democrat)
*Linda Dye, challenger
*Billy Maxwell, incumbent
*Diana Robinson, Challenger
The candidate with the most votes in the County Commission race will win the seat in the Sept. 5 election. The winner will be sworn in Nov. 21.
Suwannee County School Board District 3 (non-partisan)
*Dan Marsee, challenger
*Julie Blake Ulmer, incumbent
Suwannee County School Board District 4 (non-partisan)
(No incumbent as School Board Member Barbara Ceryak is retiring)
*James Cooper
*Ed daSilva
*Jane T. Lowe
District 5 School Board member J. M. Holtzclaw was re-elected without opposition as was District 2 Suwannee County Commissioner Doug UDell. Winners will take office in November.
Non-partisan candidates must have 51 percent of the vote to win or the two top vote-getters will face off Nov. 7 in the general election.

(No incumbent as Rep. Dwight Stansel is retiring due to term limits)

The winner of this race will face Democrat Debbie Boyd of Alachua County on Nov. 7. The winner of this race will take office November 21.
