Lady Trojan Volleyball teams win first district games of season

On Thursday night, Aug. 24, the Lady Trojan volleyball teams defeated the Lady Bulldogs from Taylor County to win their first district game of the season.
The girls from Hamilton High started out slowly and were behind 12 to 6, then came alive and battled back to win the game 25 to 20. They let down the second game and the Lady Bulldogs won 25 to 9. In the final game the Lady Trojans Junior Varsity Team stayed focused and won 15 to 9. Alyssa Blanton served for eight points with seven aces, followed closely by Ashley Scaff with nine points and two aces. Blake Daniels showed her potential with four kills.
The Lady Trojans Varsity Team dominated the Lady Bulldogs, winning the matches 25 to 15, 25 to 14, and 25 to 15. The Lady Trojans have been working very hard, and are working well together this season. MaryHannah Gaver stood out offensively serving for 20 points and eight aces. Tashea Seymore served for her first ace. Kendell Newsome had four aces and Katy Burnam served three aces. Robbielynn Roberson was tough, both offensively and defensively with four kills, three aces, one block and three digs. Katie Allen had five digs to aide the defense.
