Bonnie C. Shadrick

Services for Bonnie Cunningham Shadrick, 76, of Pinetta, Fla., are at 2 p.m. Sept. 6, 2006, Beggs Funeral Home in Madison, Fla. Interment will follow at Burnham Christian Church Cemetary in Hamilton County.

Ms. Shadrick died unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Hamilton County, Fla., and has been a resident of Pinetta since 1953. She served her community for more than 35 years through dedicated service in the careers of both teahcing and nursing. After retirement, Ms. Shadrick devoted her life to her faimly and her church through commitments that included the United Methodist Women’s Association and the United Methodist Fifty-Five Plus Club.

Ms. Shadrick is survived by Cathy Myers and husband Bruce of Cartersville; Julie Sanderbeck and husband, Scott of Valdosta,; Allen Shadrick and wife Sharon, of Pinetta; and Jennifer Dean and husband Chuck of Patterson; one sister, Hilda Alderman of Jennings; and one brother, Dr. Richard Cunningham of Gainesville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was recently preceded in death by sister and longtime teacher Mary Martha Lambert, of Jennings.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made to either Northwest District United Methodist Women’s Association (foreign missions), c/o Anne Pelt, P.O. Box 634, Crawfordville, Fla., 32326 or Odyssey Hospice, 1001 Williams Street, Valdosta, Ga., 31601.

John D. Bass Sr.

John D. Bass Sr., 88, of Lakeland ,passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, in Louis Smith Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born on June 24, 1918, in Lowndes County to the late Benjamin and Bessie (Carter) Bass. He was a member of Unity United Methodist Church and the Frosted Flakes. His wife, Edith Bass, preceded him in death.

Survivors include adaughter and son-in-law, Judy and Britt Moore, Waycross; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Glenda Bass, Homerville; grandchildren, Clint Moore, Amy Morrison, Trey Bass, April Gano and Jamie Bass; great-grandchildren; Nathan Bass, Cisco Moore, Walker Bass, Aniston Gano and Stefie Gano; and a special friend, Audrey.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, in the Unity United Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Monica S. ‘Monnie’ Seals

Monica S. “Monnie” Seals, 60, of Valdosta, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at her residence after a lengthy illness.

She was born in San Diego, California on Nov. 3, 1945, to the late Earl M. and Mary I. Spencer. Mrs. Seals was a registered nurse for 40 years and RN certified in obstetrics for more than 20 years. Her compassion and generosity lead her to begin chapters of “Resolve Through Sharing” at three hospitals, where she provided handmade gowns for stillborn infants. Due to her illness, she retired after 13 years of service from Camden Medical Center in St. Mary’s. During her free time she enjoyed reading, needlework, painting, scrapbooking, and especially her grandchildren. She was very proud to be the wife of an Air Force Officer whom she supported and followed in many moves. The family would like to thank all the staff and nurses at Hospice of South Georgia, especially Libby and Shelley. She was of the Christian faith. Her twin brother, Michael Spencer and her favorite cousin, William Rushton, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Danny Seals, Valdosta; daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Paul Conrad, Ellenwood, Kellie and Johnny Blanton, Valdosta; grandchildren, Blake Blanton, Austin Blanton, Daniel Conrad and Sarah Conrad; cousin, Pat Rushton, Opelika, Ala.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m.Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, in the Valdosta chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Daniel W. Young Sr.

Daniel W. Young, Sr., 82, of Valdosta, passed away early Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at his residence after a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 27, 1924, in Clinch County to the late Francis M. and Artiemish (Newmans) Young. He was a member of Bemiss Road Baptist Church and worked as a truck driver for most of his life. His brothers, Oscar Young, Raymond Young, Harry Young, and sister, Marie Harris preceded him in death.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-laws, Joyce and Walter Griner, Morven, Judy and Frank Tucker, Valdosta, Candace and Layton Crosby, Valdosta; three sons and daughters-in-law; Daniel and Linda Young Jr., Valdosta, Bill and Ann Young, Valdosta, Steven and Kimberly Young, Hahira; brother; Pete Young, Homerville; a friend; Mamie Sue Young, Valdosta; and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, in Wayfare Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered. Ruth Davis Croft

Ruth Davis Croft, 95, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at Woodlands Living Center.

Ms. Croft was born in Brooks County Jan. 26, 1911. She spent her days as a homemaker and attended Freewill Baptist church.

Funeral services will be held at Cobb Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, with the Rev. Eddie Dee, the Rev. Jimmy Hiers and the Rev. Hugh Ward presiding. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Ms. Croft was preceded in death by her husband, William Jack Croft, her mother Delia Easters Davis and father Henry Croft.

She is survived by four sons and daughters in law, Horace Croft and Grace of Moultrie, Louie Croft and Darlene of Moultrie, Frank Croft and Betty of Morven, James Croft and Cindy of Adel; two daughters, Beatrice Chastain of Moultrie and Ruth Ann Croft and husband Wallace of Moultrie; one brother and sister-in-law; Turner Davis and Louise of Berlin; one brother-in-law, Douglas Singletary of Valdosta; two sisters-in-law; Mamie Croft of Kissimmee, Fla., and Annie Grace Singletary of Brunswick; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-granchildren.
