The Lady Trojan Volleyball team have been very busy the past few weeks, and they are improving with each game.
On Monday, Sept. 25, the Lady Trojans faced the Lady Bulldogs from Bell High School. Looking to avenge the close loss that they had suffered the week before, the Lady Trojans played hard and defeated the lady’s from Bell High School, three to one. Robbielynn Roberson had 15 kills, 13 blocks and nine digs. Kendall Newsome had eight kills, eight blocks and nine digs. Katie Allen had 19 digs.
The next day the Lady Trojan Varsity Team traveled to Jefferson County for a double header. The Lady Trojans were too much for the Lady Tigers, and defeated them three to one in the first match and three to zero in the second. Maryhannah Gaver served for 26 points in the first match and Katie Allen served for 11 points in each of the matches.
Joining the varsity team were Ashley Scaff and Heather Marvin from the junior varsity team. Each of them got playing time, and did well. The defeat of the Lady Tigers brought the Lady Trojan’s overall record to eight wins and eight losses. Much improved over years past, but still a lot of work to do.
On Monday, Oct. 2, the lady’s suffered a tough loss to the Tornadoes from Bradford County. The Lady Trojans started out aggressively winning the first two games, but the Lady Tornadoes gained strength with each game. The Lady Trojans fell two to three in the fifth game match.
On Tuesday, Oct. 17 and Wednesday, Oct. 19, the Lady Trojans will be hosting the District Tournament. The Lady Trojans enter the tournament in third place and will be facing the Cowgirls from Madison County. This should be a very exciting match. It isn’t often that a District Tournament is held here. So come out and show the Lady Trojans our support.
