Stanley L. Fielding

Tech. Sgt. Stanley L. Fielding, 41, formerly of Valdosta, stationed at Beale Air Force Base, Calif., passed away on Oct. 31, 2006 after a battle with cancer.

He was a 17 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Operation Desert Storm and other locations stateside and overseas.

He is survived by a daughter, Ashley Fielding, Lakeland, Fla.; son, Ryan Fielding, Lakeland, Fla.; his wife, Sonia Fielding; and stepchildren, Paul, Analiese, and Josiah Stuehler of Penn Valley, Calif.; father, Cliff Kinney, Lakeland, Fla.; sisters, Kim Fielding and Suzi Basting of Webster, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gregory and Julie Fielding, Langley AFB, Hampton, Va., Jim and Susan Fielding, Valdosta, Mark and Ingrid Fielding, Lincoln, Ala.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Kinney and J.L. Fielding, grandparents, Eva and Harold Lowther and Thomas and Thelma Fielding.

Kahla Gangler

Mrs. Kahla Gangler, 44, of Lake Park, passed away Nov. 1, 2006, in an auto accident.

She was born June 21, 1962, in Colquitt County to Burdeen Davis Mathis and the late William “Bill” Samuel Vinson. She lived most of her life in Lowndes and Echols counties. She was a veterinary technician at Baytree Animal Hospital and was a member of Swilley Hill Church of God.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Burdeen Davis Mathis and Roger of Adel; one step brother, Stephen Mathis of Metcalf, Calif.; one sister, Diane Vinson of Adel; one stepsister, Julie Mathis Stephens, Thomasville; a special niece, Ashli Vinson of Adel.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 4, 2006, at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Clyde Stokes, the Rev. Franklin Vinson and the Rev. Bobby Friar officiating. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Clara Mae Covington

Clara Mae Covington, 77, of Valdosta died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Brooks County on April 10,1929, to the late James C. and Ruby White and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Covington was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Blanch Starling and Jr. Ray, Leona Nobles; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Elaine Covington, Roy Covington and Linda C. Johnson, all of Valdosta; 10 grandchildren, Debbie Pringle, Tony Kussman, Randall Dawkins, Michael Covington, Donna Hubbard, Angie Mitchell, Carol Weldon, Jimmy Covington, Jr., Nikki Johnson and Cynthia Starling; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ellen Monk of Quitman, Dallas and Frank Vann of Valdosta; three brothers and sisters-in-law, W. J. and Cloe White, Paul and Anna White, all of Valdosta, Thomas and Stella White of Savannah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Covington, a sister, Corene Terry and a special friend, Robert Bohannon.

The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home with a memorial service to be held at later date. Willie James (Butch) Prime

On Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, God called Willie James (Butch) Prime, 63, of Valdosta to enter the Heavenly Garden of peaceful rest and everlasting life.

Willie James (Butch) Prime was born on Nov. 12, 1942, to the late Leroy and Cora Prime. He received his Christian Experience at Bray’s Temple Baptist Church where he served in the choir. He coached sports for the Recreation Department for many years. He was retired from Valdosta State University where he worked over 20 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Prime; mother Cora Prime; grandfather Ulysses Anderson, Sr.; grandmother, Willie Anderson; aunt, Elose Frazier; cousin, Fredrick Thomas and great-grandmother, Minnie Wright; two brothers-in-law, Raymond Gordon and Leroy Mercer; one uncle, Charles Muse; father-in-law, Freddie Lee Martin Sr.; mother-in-law, Mary Francis Powell.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Patricia Ann Prime of Valdosta; two daughters, Samanthael Denise Prime of Atlanta; and Stephanie Michelle Prime of Valdosta; six sisters, Mary Lee Gordon of Miami, Fla., Annie Lois (Jimmy) Wright, Faye Prime, Gayle Prime, Deloise (Joe) Prime, all of Valdosta, Dorothy Prime of Shreveport, La., and Eloise Mercer of Macon; three uncles, Curtis Anderson, Ulysses Anderson, and William Bellamy, all of Valdosta; five aunts, Helen Bellamy, Minnie (John) Martin, Mary Robinson, Georgia McNealy, Alamarine Moore and Wesley McGill, all of Valdosta; sisters-in-law, Freddie Nell (Edward) Robinson, Neland Martin, both of Valdosta, Sabrina (Hiram) Banks, Terral (Larry) Williams and Gloria Martin, all of Atlanta; brothers-in-law, Bruce Edward Brannon of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Freddie Martin Jr. of Atlanta; special friends, Francine Patrick, Charlie Mae Copeland, Aaron Holmes, Liz Hill, Jermaine Jones and Angel Jones, all of Valdosta; one devoted nephew, Eric Prime; and one devoted niece, Beverly Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
