Betty Jean Bennett
Betty Jean Bennett, 69, of Adel passed away Nov. 22, 2006 in the Archbold Medical Center following a long illness. She was born Aug. 29, 1937, to the late Ivey Henry Bennett and Leoloa Castleberry Bennett, in Cook county where she lived most of her life and worked as a stewardess for Delta Airlines. She later worked as an accountant for Coca-Cola Corporate headquarters in Atlanta. She was a member of the Massee Baptist Church.
She is survived by two brothers, Earl Bennett of Thomasville, and Bill Bennett of Fayetteville; two sisters, Naomi Bennett, and Pat Jones, both of Lilburn; sister-in-law Alice Tucker of Nashville, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Bennett and Abbie Bennett.
Visitation will today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home, with graveside services following at 2 p.m. in the Roundree Cemetery.– Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home.

Emma Louise Berrian Smith
Mrs. Emma Louise Berrian Smith, 60, passed this life Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006 at her residence in Bartow Fla. Mrs. Smith was born on June 15, 1946, to the late Warren H. Berrian Sr. and Margaret Johnson Berrian in Lowndes County. She attended school in the Lowndes County School System. She was employed with Precionaire for 28 years until her illness and then retired as a supervisor over the pass and roll department.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Joseph L. Smith, Bartow, Fla.; devoted daughter, Tanni Berrian Scott (the Rev. J. L. Scott), Valdosta; devoted son, Timothy Smith, Bartow, Fla.; her mother, Margaret Johnson Berrian, Valdosta; two sisters, Connie Adams, Valdosta, Margie Williams (Charles), Gainesville, Fla.; one brother, Warren Berrian (Jewell), Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren, Shenita Henderson (Timothy), Kenyatta Henderson (Cassandra), William Harris and Jeremy Henderson, all of Valdosta; six aunts, Carrie Washington, Alice Berrian, both of West Palm Beach, Marjorie Collier, Cora Mae Spencer, Ruby Lee Berrian, Doris Taylor, all of Valdosta; three uncles, the Rev. H.A. Johnson, Atlanta, Hardrick Johnson, Valdosta, Lewis Berrian, New York; three special cousins, Gladys Mitchell (Robert), Turner Williams (Azerlene), Lewis Williams (Ethel) all of Valdosta; eight great-grandchildren; three God-children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at 3 p.m., at Saint John Missionary Baptist Church in Barretts. The Rev. Earnest Usher is pastor and the Rev. J.L. Scott will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mount Vienna Cemetery. Frances Bagley Frazier
Mrs. Frances Bagley Frazier, 77, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, in the South Georgia Medical Center, of Valdosta, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Frazier was born in Clinch County, on Sept., 4, 1929 to the late Thomas “Tom” Bagley and Dora Howling Bagley. She was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God and was a personal care home provider with Satilla CSB Community Mental Health Center. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Ann Frazier and one son, Robin Lee Frazier.
Survivors are four daughters and sons-in-law: Jennie Lee York and Charles Aldridge, Homerville, Viola and Ernest Holmes, Kingsland, Christine Lowe, San Diego, Calif., Mary Jane and Dean Gandy, Alahuha, Fla.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Mary Frazier, Kingsland, James and Pat Frazier, St. Mary’s, Ga., Edward and Ada Frazier, Kingsland, Ga.; two brothers, Noah Bagley and Leo Bagley, both of Homerville; 24 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and several other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Frazier will be held Saturday, Nov., 25, 2006 at 11 a.m. from the Lighthouse Assembly of God. Interment will be in the Camp Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Manor.

Joan A. Creamer
Joan Anita Creamer, 50, of Lakeland, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2006 at the Louis Smith Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Baxley (Appling County). She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel R. and Mamie Louise (Hall) Creamer and three brothers, Daniel Creamer, Jr., Henry Lee Creamer and Robert “Bobby” H. Creamer. She was a member of the Faith Full-Gospel Church in Nashville and had lived in Lakeland since 2001.
Survivors include two brothers and sisters in-law, Richard and Jane Creamer, Ray City, Lawton and Joan Elaine Creamer, Nashville; three sisters in-law, Loriene Creamer, Live Oak, Fla., Edith Creamer, Nacogdoches, Texas, Shirley Creamer Sellers, Nahunta, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 at the Faith Full-Gospel Church in Nashville. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Nashville Memorial Gardens cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 24, 2006 from 2–5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bessie Mae Carter Schmucker
Bessie Mae Carter Schmucker, 91, of Pompano Beach Fla. died in Holy Cross Hospice Center Nov. 16, 2006 following a stroke. She was born Nov. 18, 1914 to Oscar Littleton and Dora Williams Carter in Lakeland. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She was very active in the Pompano Beach Women’s Club.
She was preceded in death by her Husband John Ralph Schmucker, her parents, and her brother Frank Littleton Carter. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, several cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in Burnt Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state at Music Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Internment will be at Burnt Church Cemetery, Lakeland.

Dorothy Tucker Weldon
Dorothy Tucker Weldon, 78, of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and formerly of Lowndes County died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at her home. She was born on Oct. 26, 1928, in Lowndes County to the late Jessie and Mildred Durden Tucker and had lived most of her life Lowndes County before moving to Pigeon Forge several years ago. Mrs. Weldon was a member of the Assembly of God.
Survivors include her husband, William H. (Bill) Weldon of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., one son and daughter in law, Billy D. (Don) and Donna Adams Weldon of Twin Lakes; two daughters and sons in law, Sandra and Freddy Dean, Jackie and Terry Roberts all of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three brothers and sisters in law, John and Christine Tucker of Eatonton, Gene and Verna Tucker of Hahira, Raymond and Charlene Tucker of Dunn, NC.; two sisters and brothers in law, Velma and Carol Tyler of Hahira and Catherine and C.J. King of Helen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Pete Owen and the Rev. Wayne Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Hahira.

James Edward ‘Jim’ Holmes
James Edward “Jim” Holmes, 71, of Quitman, passed away Nov. 23, 2006 at his residence surrounded by family and friends. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he had lived in Quitman since 1963. He was the son of the late James Thomas and Ethel Seager Holmes.
He was the owner of Hunter Motor Company, a business that had served Brooks County since 1941. Mr. Holmes was a member of the Quitman First Baptist Church, vice-chairman of the Board of Directors of Citizens National Bank and a former member of the Valwood School Board of Trustees. He hosted a Country Music Radio Show for 30 years, served his country in the U.S. Air Force, was a graduate of McDonough Military School and Gettysburg College and member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnell Hunter Holmes; two daughters, Jane (Kent) Cain, Caroline (Jim) Kennerly, and one son, Jimmy (Tori) Holmes; five grandchildren: Sarah, Katie, and Josh Kennerly, and Travis and Jenna Bonnell Cain.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. at Quitman First Baptist Church, preceded by a private burial service. Visitation will follow the celebration of life at 12 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, those desiring, may make contributions to Quitman First Baptist Church of Odyssey Hospice. Kenneth M. Carter
Kenneth M. Carter, 74, of Valdosta died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. after a lengthy illness. He was born on Feb. 1, 1932, in Hamburg, Ark., to the late Jeff and Lelia Burchell Carter. He had lived in Valdosta since 1970 and retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of dedicated service and then from South Georgia Medical Center after 15 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, birdwatching and most of all, woodworking and was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Brigitte Carter of Valdosta, his son, John Carter and wife, Sharon of Thomasville, two daughters, Patricia Carter Marchal and husband, Kelly of Alexandria, Ala., and Sabine Carter of Valdosta and fiance, Doug Gross; his grandchildren, Zane, Bailey, Chelsea, Lauren, Max and Gabriel; his great grandchildren, Ryan and Kaitlin, and two favorite TV buddies, cats, Toby (Fat Sack) and Smokey (Slick Willie), and is also survived by two brothers, Raymond Carter and Lawrence Carter of Crossett, Ark.; two sisters, Barbara Feagin of Columbia, S.C., and Donnie Craig of Bakersfield, Calif.., and several nieces and nephews. His parents and four siblings precede him in death.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Mrs. Ether Cowart Campbell, 83, of Valdosta, passed this life Sunday, Nov. 18, 2006 at Holly Hill Nursing Home in Valdosta. She was born Aug. 21, 1923 in Lowndes County to the late William and Catherine Berrian Cowart. She was a member of the Tower Street Church of Christ. She was married to the late Thomas Campbell Sr.
She is survived by four children, John Campbell, and Shirley Stevenson, both of Thomasville, Marilyn Campbell, West Palm Beach, Fla., Elvis Campbell, Palm Bay, Fla.; two sisters, Edna Robinson, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Idella Hampton, Valdosta; eighteen grandchildren, a host of nieces nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006 at 11 a.m. at West Hill Church of Christ. Brother Zebedee Moore is the Pastor and Brother Clay Lee Phillips will officiate. Lacey Hawkins
Lacey Hawkins, 71 of Valdosta died on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born on April 9, 1935, in Sylvester, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Mary Francis Poole Hawkins. He retired from Colquitt EMC after 44 years of service. Mr. Hawkins was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church.
Survivors are his wife, Geneva Casey Hawkins of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Teresa Hawkins of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Pam Rogers of Valdosta; grandchildren, Cassie Comacho, Ben Hawkins, and Sam Hawkins; sisters, Odell Christmas of Albany, Evelyn Griffin of Moultrie, Louise Hiers of Hilliard, Fla.; brother, Irvin Casey of Valdosta and a number of nieces in nephews. He was also preceded in death by a son, Keith Hawkins.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at Faith Assembly of God Church on South 41 with Rev. Travis Apperson and Reverend Gerry Russo officiating. Nina Lee Butler Woods, of Valdosta, passed this life Nov. 17, 2006. Mrs. Woods was born on Feb. 3, 1911, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Mattie Berrian Butler. Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by five brothers: Alphonso Morris, Leroy, James Perry, Willie F., and Robert Louis; sisters: Eliza Jane, Leola, Mary Jane, Louvenia, Georgia Mae, Lucille Remiza, Beatrice, Willene,and Julia Mae; her husband, Robert Sr, and her son, Eugene, and her grandnephew Merritt Alphonso Dalton.
She is survived by her sister, Ervie Lee Homer, who remains in care of her loving children; Phillip Edward Homer, his wife, Adele,and step-son Jordan Henderson; Margaret homer Reeder, Barbara Jean Foulkes and her children, Dale Anthony and Robin Jean, and Eloise Homer with whom she resides. Her surviving son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert W. Woods Jr. and her youngest son Eugene Woods (deceased), blessed her with a legacy: nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who know and lover her as their “Mom-o.”
