Charles Matteson

Charles Matteson, 86, of Live Oak, Florida, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006 in his home after a long illness. The East Point, Georgia native moved to Live Oak from Atlanta, Georgia 24 years ago, was a US Army Veteran serving during World War II and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Live Oak.

Survivors include his wife, Merle Matteson of Live Oak; one daughter, Sandra Napier of Live Oak; four sisters, Kit Dunaway and Lou Jones, both of Rockmart, Georgia, Harriett Spears of Fort Valley, Georgia and Mary Califf of Fairburn, Georgia; five grandchildren, Debra and Kenneth Marr of Saint George Island, Florida, Melinda and Greg Scott, Lora Sammons, David Napier and Robert and Stephanie Lansford, all of Live Oak; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5 in Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Resor officiating.

Daniels Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.



William E. Vermillion

William E. Vermillion, 65, of Live Oak, Florida, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 3, 2006 in his home. He was born in Washington, D.C. and moved from Miami 18 years ago. Vermillion enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf and bull riding and was a member of the Live Oak Elks Club No. 1165 and the Moose Lodge in Leisure City, Florida. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Live Oak and was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Vermillion.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Rosemary Vermillion of Live Oak; one daughter, Shannon Blaylock (Todd) of Miami, Florida; his mother, Frances Dameron of Hyattsville, Maryland; one brother, Lawrence F. Vermillion (Janice) of Ocala, Florida; one sister, Cora Hess (Bill) of Ashville, North Carolina; and two grandchildren, Clifton and Amanda Jewell Blaylock, both of Miami.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Blondy C. Jarrett

Blondie C. Jarrett, 95, of Dowling Park, Florida, passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2006 in Good Samaritan Center, Dowling Park. The Procious, West Virginia native moved to Dowling Park from Jacksonville in 1983, was a homemaker and a member of The Village Church, Advent Christian Village, Dowling Park.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Ann (Bob) Hoff of Omaha, Nebraska and Linda Lennon of Wilmington, North Carolina; two sons, Norman Kent (Beverly) Jarrett of Orange Park, Florida and Marcus L. Jarrett of Picayune, Mississippi; two sisters, Glady King of Noblesville, Indiana and Darreline Burroughs of Clay, West Virginia; one brother, Lowell Cook of Point Pleasant, West Virginia; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Jarrett, daughter, Sally Bruckler and grandchildren, Robin Parker and Andrew Jarrett.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7 in Bixler Chapel, Dowling Park, with the Rev. Jack Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Bixler Gardens Memorial East Cemetery, Dowling Park. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m., Thursday at the church.
