VALDOSTA — Colson Printing Calendar 2007 is available. It features works from 13 local and regional artists selected from entries in the 2006 Spring Into Art show several months ago at the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts.
Colson has been making art selections for its calendar during the annual Spring Into Art exhibits for several years. In addition to the show awarding prizes, being chosen for the calendar has become a prestigious honor for participating artists.
Calendar judges selected 13 works this year, one for the cover and one for each month. Some of the artists’ names and styles will be familiar to area art patrons because the artists are either from here or have participated in numerous local shows.
The 2007 Colson Printing Calendar artists are Thomas Lott, Valdosta, “Summer Butterfly,” front cover; Linda Reaves, Valdosta, “The Creator’s Hand,” January; Carole Gum, Albany, “My South,” February; Linda Pence, Gainesville, Fla., “Mountain Home,” March; Rachel Settle, Waycross, “Valdosta Streets,” April; Myric Hornbuckle, Leesburg, “Flowers and Two Vases,” May; Janice Lape’, Hawthorne, Fla., “Glorious Day,” June; Don Pettigrew, Valdosta, “The Landing at Little St. Simons,” July; Kelly Call, Valdosta, “Jim Simons,” August; Vicki DeMott, Doerun, Untitled No. 88, September; Jeanne Cowart, Valdosta, “October Light,” October; Jean Weiner, Albany, “In the Pumpkin Patch,” November; Virginia Roach Munroe, Cumming, “A Winter’s Day,” December.
This year’s calendar is an exquisite collection and a fine representation of the two-dimensional art, both paintings and photographs, that appeared in the Spring Into Art show.
