Larry Michael Guilbeau
Larry Michael Guilbeau, 61, of Leesburg, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at his residence.
A graveside funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. in Leesburg Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Jenkins will officiate.
A native of Albany, Mr. Guilbeau lived in Leesburg all of his life, where he was a health inspector for Lee County for 20 years working for the Health Department. He was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church. He graduated from Lee County High School in 1963, attended Norman Park Junior College, Norman Park, North Georgia College in Dahlonega. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years in Staten Island, N.Y., stationed at Governor’s Island and assigned to U.S.S. Spencer. Worked in J.P. Morgan and Chase National Banks in New York City. He was a well-known bass fisherman, where he was a world record holder and a deer hunter. He was preceded in death by his father, CWO Mitchell Guilbeau; and his stepdaughter, Michelle Clegg Vassey.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Guilbeau, Leesburg; two sons, Paul Guilbeau of Warner Robins; Chris Guilbeau, Leesburg; two stepsons, Greg Clegg, Leesburg, Brent Clegg, Leesburg; a stepdaughter, Angela Clegg Sarvis, Sharksburg; his mother and stepfather, Gwendolyn Johnson Seanor and John H. Seanor, Fitzgerald; one brother, Kenneth Guilbeau, Sylvester; a half brother, Ralph Guilbeau, Appling; a stepbrother, Bill Seanor of Lexington, Ky.; three stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Friday at the residence of Chris Guilbeau, 178 Main St., Leesburg, from 6-8 p.m.

Frances Lula Musgrove
Frances Lula Musgrove, 78, of Live Oak, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at the Suwanee Health Care Center in Live Oak following a lengthy illness. She was a native of Valdosta, moving to Live Oak from Homerville, Ga., in 1958. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.
Frances was a very loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, A.D. Musgrove, Live Oak; five sons, Larry (Doretha) Musgrove, Live Oak; Steve (Judy) Musgrove, Live Oak; Mike (Gayle) Musgrove, Live Oak, Jamie (Glenda) Musgrove, Live Oak, Chris (Terri) Musgrove, Valdosta; one daughter, Lauren (Jim) Lewis, Palatka, Fla.; one sister, Emma Walker, Valdosta; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clarence Parker and Pastor Chris Musgrove officiating.

Fluker G. Stewart
Fluker G Stewart, Director Emeritus of College Relations at Valdosta State University, died Dec. 27, 2006, at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville. He was 85 years of age.
A native of Atlanta, he was a graduate of Boys’ High School where he was feature editor of the Tatler, the school newspaper, a member of the Debate Team, DeMolay and the Glee Club. He was also President of the Junior American Red Cross in Atlanta and a National speaker for that organization. In his senior year, representatives of the Atlanta high schools elected him youth Mayor of the the city of Atlanta, as part of a program sponsored by the Atlanta Lions Club. The position was to last one week, but due to the close lasting friendship he developed with then Mayor William B Hartsfield, he was referred to as the “Boy Mayor” for several years afterwards and was called upon to stand in for Mayor Hartsfield on numerous occasions. He attended the University of Georgia where he earned a bachelor of arts in journalism and the master of education in counseling and guidance. He served as official host for President Harman Caldwell for six years in the President’s Football Box and was editor of The Red and Black campus newspaper, and the Pandora, UGA yearbook.
He was a member and officer of a number of campus organizations including Sigma Delta Chi, Blue Key, Omicron Delta Kappa, Gridiron, Campus Post American Legion Demosthian Literacy Society. Mr. Stewart also received coveted membership in Sphinx, the highest honor the University bestows on male students.
Mr. Stewart left Athens to enlist in the U.S. Army Infantry in World War II, eventually returning to the University to complete his graduate studies. Upon graduation, he became the first editor of the Atlanta Ford News for the then new Ford Motor Company plant in Hapeville, Ga. He left Ford when Caldwell asked him to set up an evening school call the Off Campus Center in Gainesville, Ga. Three years later he established another Off Campus Center in Columbus, Ga. These two centers became institutions of the University System, known today as Gainesville and Columbus Colleges.
Mr. Stewart joined GENESCO, then the world’s largest manufacturer-distributor of all things people wear, in Nashville, Tenn. He was editor of the Corporation’s 28 monthly employee publications. During this time he also served as president of the Bluegrass Golf and Yacht Club and as a deacon in the Presbyterian Church. He and his family remained in Tennessee 14 years before he became Director of Public Relations at Stetson University in Deland, Fla., and advisor for the chapter of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Three years later, Mr. Stewart moved to Valdosta, Ga. With the then incoming new president of Valdosta State College, S. Walter Martin. He served as Director of College Relations, the position he held until retirement in 1985.
During his tenure at VSC he hosted a weekly television show, Panorama, on an ABC-TV affiliate, was a member of the Gator Bowl Board and for more than 30 years, was active with Miss Georgia Pageants, preliminaries to the Miss America Pageants, and other such events through 45 years.
Mr. Stewart was active in Lowndes County activities and organizations, including the Boys’ Club, the United Way, Valdosta, Rotary Club and was frequently a guest motivational speaker throughout the South. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Valdosta.
Mr. Stewart is survived by a son, Jefferson M. Stewart and his wife Becky; two granddaughters Macy Stewart and Melissa Stewart all of Valdosta, and a brother Alfred W. Stewart and sister-in-law Sandy Stewart, of Buford, Ga.; a sister-in-law Joan K. Stewart of Ellijay, Ga.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lucy M. Stewart and brother, James R. Stewart.
The visitation was held Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at the funeral home. As per Mr. Stewart’s wishes, he will be cremated following the visitation. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at the First Presbyterian Church of Valdosta. In lieu of flowers, the Stewart family is asking that donations be made to the Lucy Martin Stewart Voice Scholarship at Valdosta State University in care of VSU Foundation, Valdosta, GA 31698. William ‘Bill’ Warren
William “Bill” Warren, 69, of Valdosta passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2006 in South Georgia Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born in Jasper, Fla., on Dec. 29, 1936, to the late J.M. and Lillie (Osburn) Warren. Mr. Warren was a devoted family man who loved stock cars and worked in the pool business for 20 plus years after retiring from the U.S. Air Force. He was Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by Franklin Warren, James M. Warren, John A Warren, and Vickie Banks, Sara Conine.
Survivors include: spouse, Carol Warren, Valdosta; daughters, Debbie, Betty and Christine, all of Florida; stepchildren whom he loved very much, Robin Stuckey, Valdosta, Jackie Austin, Jacksonville, Fla., Steve Barrow, Ty-Ty, Ga., Debra Lieupo, Lake Park; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Jimmie Radcliff, Jasper, Fla., Jean Warren, Jasper; brother, Donnie Warren, Live Oak, Fla.; buddies, Sparky and Charlie.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at 2 p.m. in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.

Willie Clarence Zanders
Willie Clarence Zanders, 63, of Valdosta was born Sept. 1, 1943, in Lake Park, to the late Willie Zanders and the late Daisy Mae Mobley Zanders. He attended the New Jerusalem Church. Mr. Zanders died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Daisy Zanders; son, Willie Clarence Zanders Jr.; and granddaughter, ShaRhonda Zanders.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Sharon L. Zanders of Valdosta; sons, Anthony Zanders of Jennings, Fla.; and stepson, W.C. Fulton III (Latoya) of Valdosta; daughter, Tonja Zanders of Atlanta, and stepdaughters, Laffette Richardson (Corey) of Valdosta, and Renea Christian of Savannah; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy L. Mobley (Melinda) of Indiana, Napoleon B. Zanders of Atlanta, Larry D. Zanders (Juanita) of Valdosta, Archie L. Zanders of Fayetteville, N.C., Mac Arthur Zanders (Ruby) of Jennings, Fla., and Willie Charles Edward Zanders (Latisha) of Valdosta; sisters, Betty P. Stokes of Lake Park, and Diana Z. Taylor (Leon) of Swansea, Ill.; uncles, Albert Mobley of Gainesville, Fla., and John Graham of Jasper, Fla.; aunts, Edith Roper and Helen Watts, both of Gainesville, Fla., Dorothy Brookins and Ollie Mitchell, both of Lake Park; mother-in-law, Annie Ruth Travis of Quitman; a special niece, Betty Jean Miley of Valdosta; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at 3 p.m. at Mount Carmel Holiness Church. Bishop Alton Litman, pastor, and Pastor David Northcutt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Francis Lake Cemetery in Lake Park. Final rites are entrusted to Scott and Roberts Mortuary.
