VALDOSTA — Incumbent Lowndes County Commissioners Richard C. Lee, District 2, and G. Robert Carter, District 3, were sworn in Tuesday as they begin another term.

Judge H. Arthur McLane officiated the ceremony as family members, pastors and other officials witnessed. The Commissioners swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States as well as the governing Constitution of Georgia. The Commissioners were presented with their official letters from the Governor’s Office.

Commission Chairman Rod Casey said that it has been a great pleasure to work with Lee and Carter and that he is glad they have been sworn in for full four-year terms. Previously, Lee and Carter agreed to serve two-year terms so that elections for the Commissioners could be staggered.

“I greatly appreciate how these individuals have remained dedicated to the county during the staggered terms they have served, in which they assumed full responsibility,” said Casey.

Carter said that some of his main projects he would like to focus on include completion of the new jail and judicial building, road repair, water and sewer issues and preparation for next year’s SPLOST (special purpose local option sales tax) 6.
