Floyd Lee Parker
Floyd Lee Parker, 68, of Adel, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at the Memorial Convalescent Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Irwin County on Nov. 2, 1938, to the late Robert Lonnie and Leila Watson Parker. Mr. Parker owned and operated Valdosta Radio and TV.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Cam and Sarah Parker of Toccoa, Kevin and Angie Parker of Statesboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Jimmy Berube of Hahira; five grandchildren, Josh Parker, Ben Parker, Louie Parker, Sydney Parker and Katelyn Parker; many nieces, nephews and friends at Memorial Convalescent Center who gave their loving care.
Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and sister-in-law, James and Geneva Parker; and infant sister, Christine Parker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with the Rev. Harris Whitman officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Berlin. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. James ‘Jim’ Martin
James “Jim” Martin, 76, of Valdosta passed away late Tuesday evening, April 3, 2007, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born June 2, 1930, in Berrien County to the late Collis Remer and Lucille (Coppage) Martin. Mr. Martin retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 20 years. After retirement, Jim went to work for and retired with 20 years from the Georgia Department of Corrections.Along with his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by sister, Louise Fisher; and brothers, Raymond Martin and Johnny Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Martin of Valdosta; daughter, Teresa Royals, Valdosta; sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Diane Martin, Rapid City, S.D., Randy and Debbie Martin, Staten Island, N.Y., Phillip and Sue Martin, Livingston, Colo., Steve and Nancy Martin, Jacksonville, Fla.; stepsons, Hardy and Donna Bennett, Valdosta, Wayne and Beth Bennett, Valdosta; 15 grandchildren; several great- grandchildren; nieces and nephews; stepsister, Juanita Wiggins, Valdosta.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 6, 2007, in the Friendship Cemetery where full military honors will be rendered. The Rev. Charlie Scarborough will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
