Defending champ Jackson comes to town

Suwannee takes on defending District 3-3A champion Andrew Jackson tonight at Langford. Jackson (4-3 overall, 1-1 in district play) clinched the district title last year in Jacksonville with a 21-7 thumping of Suwannee. The 2006 Tigers went 8-2 and made it to the regional semi-finals before losing to eventual 3A state runner up Pine Forest 24-14.
Jackson’s losses this year were to AA state champion Charlton County, Georgia, 5A Jacksonville Ed White and district foe Bishop Kenny. The Tigers handed Baker County its only loss of the year so far on Oct. 5 (21-13 in Jacksonville).
Baker’s loss means Suwannee’s playoff fate remains in its own hands. Coach Tommy Chambers said his team “feels pretty confident” going into the game – provided the ‘Dogs don’t have a late-game letdown, as happened last week at Santa Fe.
Who to watch: Jackson running back Antonio Lenten and receiver Marquel Wade.
Suwannee enters the game 3-2, 0-1 in district play.
Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
