School bus drivers learn about safety

As part of National School Bus Safety Week, the Hamilton County School District held a training session for school bus drivers on Friday, Oct. 26. Florida Highway Patrolman BC Creech talked about the dangers of driving while impaired – whether by lack of sleep, illness, drugs or other reasons. Daisy Vickers, Hamilton County School Nurse, talked about the prevention of staph infections and the proper use of antibiotics.

The drivers answered questions about buses and driving safety during a bingo game to win prizes. Ward Daniels, Transportation Specialist, also gave prizes to the drivers throughout the day. The session ended with an appreciation lunch of the drivers for a job well done.
