Five arrested in motel robbery

VALDOSTA — An armed robbery at Big Seven Motel early Friday morning has led to the arrest of five males.
Around 12:40 p.m., an individual was approached by five males in a Chevrolet vehicle outside the motel in the 1800 block of West Hill Avenue, according to Valdosta police. Several items were taken from the victim as he was held at gunpoint. No one was injured during the robbery.
The victim was able to provide police with a description of the suspects and the vehicle they occupied at the time of the incident.
Shortly after the report, Valdosta patrol officers located a vehicle matching the description, along with the five suspects. An investigation of the vehicle led to the recovery of several items that were reported stolen during the robbery.
Raphael Williams, 19, Eddie Thomas, 17, Rashad Austin, 19, Antwan Rawls, 19, and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested and have been charged with armed robbery, according to police. The five are currently being held at the Lowndes County Jail.
Authorities credit the quick capture of the suspects to the joint efforts of the Valdosta Police Department Patrol Division and Power Squad Unit.
