The Suwannee River Regional Library’s local bookcart drill team entered the second annual Pimp my Bookcart contest, a national competition presented by the library cartoon series Unshelved and sponsored by Highsmith, a major supplier of library products. In a field of 129 entries from schools and libraries across the nation, Suwannee River Regional Library’s Pig Out On Reading was selected runner up. Upon making the award the judges commented, “Not only do we agree with the sentiment ‘Pig Out On Reading,’ but we loved how a pig, a giant book, and a bookcart were all seamlessly combined.” The library won a $50 gift certificate from Highsmith and a complete set of Unshelved books. The winning bookcart is on display in the children’s area of the Live Oak Library.
