North Florida Community College’s Sentinel fast pitch softball team has already played 13 games in the 2008 season, winning four and losing nine. The young team played in a round robin, the St. Petersburg Tour and several other games, getting much needed experience for the three month-long season ahead.

The four returning sophomores this year for NFCC are: #24 Stephenie Carlson of Surrey, BC, Canada, first base/utility; #16 Jen Miskell of Port Richey, first base; #13 Chelsi Taylor, second base/pitcher, Independence, Kan.; and #2 Melissa Smith, pitcher, Pitt Meadows, BC, Canada.

Freshmen players are: #12 Kristin Benton, pitcher, Lakeland; #19 Brittany Hobbs, outfield/pitcher, Monticello; #4 Suzanne Kluball, catcher, Valdosta, Ga.; #8 Michelle Maxson, outfield, Live Oak; #11 Tara Richardson, shortstop, Pinetta; #9 Alisa Ring, third base, Lake City; #1 Amber Stormant, outfield, White Springs; #00, Melissa Walker, outfield, Panama City; and #17 Alexis Adleburg, utility, Madison.

After a home game against Lake/Sumter Community College Feb. 14 the team will hit the road Feb. 16 for another tour at Darton College in Norcross, Ga. The Sentinels will be home again Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. against Central Florida Community College.

The public is invited to come out and support these young athletes as they play some serious fast pitch softball.
