A former Live Oak resident was sentenced to four and a half years in a Connecticut prison Feb. 27 on sexual assault charges.

Christopher A. Green, 23, of Groton, Conn., was arrested in 2006 for having sexual contact with four Waterford, Conn. teenagers. According to police, Green met a 15-year-old girl on MySpace and the two chatted online for about two weeks before meeting in person. Green met the girl’s other friends and gave them alcohol, say authorities. He sexually assaulted the 15-year-old girl at her friend’s house on one or more occasions, according to prosecutors.

Green had been stationed at the Naval Submarine Base at Groton, Conn. at the time of his arrest, at which point he was discharged from the Navy.

After Green was released on bond he committed a similar offense, said prosecutors. Green reportedly supplied three teenage girls with liquor and had sexual contact with them in a hotel room. The girls were friends of the 15-year-old.

Green pleaded guilty to two counts of risk of injury to a minor last month on the eve of his trial. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon release from prison and will remain on probation for 10 years.

Green, a 2003 Suwannee High graduate, will serve his sentence at Corrigan Correctional Institution in Uncasville, Conn.
