Susie Frances Christie

Susie Frances Christie, age 87, departed this earthly life March 11, 2008, at the Margaret Dozier Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida. Mrs. Christie was a long time resident of Jasper, Florida, relocating to Tallahassee six years ago due to failing health and to be closer to her daughter.
Mrs. Christie, along with her husband Fred Christie, were long-time farmers in Hamilton County. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred; a son Frederick; three sisters: Lucille Hartley, Gertrude Garvin and Sadie Pennell; and a brother, Joseph L. Tomlinson. She was the last surviving child of Joseph and Mamie Tomlinson of White Springs, Florida. Mrs. Christie will long be remembered by her hometown community as a strong woman who carried a man’s workload to maintain the family farm in Jasper for many years.
Survivors include her daughter, Pat Reeves (Oddis) of Tallahassee; a grandson, Kenneth Heierman (Stacy) of Tallahassee; two granddaughters: Tammy Christie Ogburn (Mike) of White Springs and Terri Christie Carter-Sewell (Joe) of Tallahassee; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three stepchildren: Iris Green, Avis Bullard and Douglas Christie; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 14, 2008, in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Lindsey officiating. Interment followed in Prospect Cemetery.
