The Bulldog baseball teams swept a pair from visiting Bradford on Tuesday. The JV won the early game 10-2 while the varsity won the late game 6-3.
The varsity won an important District 3-4A game, scoring all six of their runs in the first two innings. Bradford rallied back with three runs off Bulldog starter Ty Smith in the third. Bradford managed to hit four doubles on the night and might have had more had it not been for some nice defensive work in the Bulldog outfield. However, the comeback was cut short with two innings of quality relief from Clent Flowers before Mack Murray closed it out in the seventh.
JV pitcher Ryne Turner threw a complete game (the JV’s 10th of the season) for the win. Freshman Ryan daSilva homered for the second time this season in the game. The win completes the junior varsity schedule with an impressive 14-3 record.
The Bulldogs (12-5) will take a few days off for spring break and return to action Thursday at Union County in Lake Butler.
